Standing for the truth of God's word is NOT, I repeat not going out to the street corner and getting into peoples face and telling them that they are living in sin. Your anger will not produce the righteousness of God, Rather they that are led by the Spirit of God, THEY are the Sons of God. What does that mean? That simply means that being a son one has learnt to be obedient and has subjected himself to the Father, in other words, he doesn't do his own will but the Will of the Father.
Since no one really has the truth because we come from varied backgrounds and theology, if one were to really take the narrow path, one must forsake all that he has learnt. That means forsaking everything that your Mother and Father taught you, forsaking all theology that we have accumulated over the years and be completely empty that the LORD would fill us with good things. Things that truly matter in the Spirit.
A quick way to get really empty from all religious idea and thought, is to see Jesus high and lifted up. I think that would cause a man to be completely undone.
This is not a matter of right and wrong, it's a matter of Truth. Right and Wrong , Good and Evil all come from the same tree, were all hanging around the wrong tree yet the tree in the midst of the garden no one is interested in because there is no beauty that we should desire it, there is nothing attractive about it. There is no pride that would balloon one's ego. It's swells with Truth, yet we don't want to stand for that kind of truth. We'd rather stand for the truth of whats Good or Bad, we are still eating off that tree.
To stand for that tree is death, but the gift that is in the midst of the garden that is eternal life, the way the truth and the life, few there be that find it.
Lets stop standing for what we have been taught, rather stand for what has been deposited or invested in us by the Spirit of God. How do we know what is Spirit and what is flesh? We know because the letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life. If we are obeying the letter or trying to obey the letter, then we are not standing for the truth.
Jude said that we should contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints. That faith is Jesus Christ in whom all the law and the prophets have been fulfilled in. Our faith being set on Him and Him alone, and not in any system of man, to bring us to salvation is the truth that we need to contend for, because the word of God is on trial today like never before. Men have devised systems to change this faith into lasciviousness, and different kinds of lusts, because when one is putting their faith into a system of law keeping, a host of sins become manifest, and the results is death.
When this topic of "Standing for the truth" comes into discussion, there is much to consider, one being to ascertain in our own minds is what Pilate said to Jesus, "What is Truth?".
