This Sunday was a bit of a tough Sunday at church, we had a guest Baptist pastor from Argentina and well he gave the teaching.
He started off very good with the first part of psalm 119 and went on to give a very good teaching on the importance of the Bible in our everyday life and how we should always make time to study God's word and share it with our family in order to build a strong foundation which is in Christ etc... but the pastor being Baptist put so much emphasis on Baptist tradition this and Baptist tradition that and I don’t only pick on Baptist because all of the denominations are guilty of this.
He got to a point where I just got up and went outside to take in some air :-? , he really struck a nerve hehe... see I came to know Christ in a Baptist church and well I have nothing against the Baptist or any other for that matter (except for the fact that denominations can cause separation and some confusion but that’s another story) but i do have something against advertisement of the Baptists or any other organization because we are not business men nor sales men and our concentration is Christ not that it should be Christ but instead it CAN ONLY be Christ and promotion of him as the Lord and savior that he is. But well the quick thought turned long was the fact that we need to stop pointing in the direction of organizations and point to the Lord because it is the Lord that wrote the word and it is him who wishes us to read it not Baptist or Pentecostal or Methodist or Presbyterian etc etc etc tradition. btw i listen to Leonard Ravenhill a lot and men like him preached in all types of churches but they preached Christ and disliked the promotion of anything but Christ ;-) and i am of the same mindset.
