The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.KJV
Thank God we are a part of the wild olive branch that was grafted into that promise and are fellow heirs with those that preceded us that kept the law by faith. Faith is the natural way, works are inherent to the fallen man. Every time men make up a new religion they mix a little faith in Grace with Law and works trying to please everyone.
He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? KJV
I was not seeking glory or claiming perfection in the law in a previous thread. I mistakenly thought we were praising God for his work in delivering us from the law of sin and death and writing His laws in our hearts.
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone KJV
For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.KJV
