F

I am trying to convince someone that anyone can be saved that believes in Jesus. But they keep on throwing this "Matthew 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." scripture in my face and say only Jews can be saved. I had the answer but I just cant seem to find it now.

Please give some scripture :-(

John 10:16 (King James Version)

16And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

Also tell them to read on in the chapter in question i.e. Matthew 15 v24-28

Hi fromtheold,

You could also show him Ephesians 2:11-18 which shows plainly that Jews and gentiles are made one in Christ.

You could also ask him to consider: Why Paul was an Apostle to the gentiles (Galatians 2:7-8) and preached Christ to them and wrote epistles where he called gentiles "saints" and "brethren"(Romans,
Corinthians, etc) if they really could not be saved?

If he is honest he'll see Jesus' statement in Matthew 15:24 doesn't mean what he said it does. But if he is proud he probably still won't admit it, so you might just have to pray that God would deal with deeper issues that keep him from receiving the truth and let God deal with him.
It's still good to have scriptures ready in any case.

Edit: Also keep in mind, this person needs to see above all his own need to be washed in the blood of Jesus and follow him. One can have the right view on this issue and still not actually have Christ.

Praying God would give you wisdom as you speak the truth in love.

Thank you Growingone, I think i will take your advise. Because no matter what I say they have a answer, even if I give scriptures.

Acts 10:44-48

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.

Then Peter said, 47 "Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have." 48 So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.
(from New International Version)

You might try this one.

Hi everyone,

fromtheold,

I think we have some groups here that preach something similar to what you are talking about.

In addition to what has already been suggested, we could also use this as an opportunity to look more closely at what we believe and why about this issue. We can use it for an opportunity for good.

I imagine that all of us together could put together quite a list of verses that would be helpfull here. I tried to make a list of some last night also. Maybe we will be able to look at some of these things together. :)

Rom 10:12-13, 3:29-30, 9:30-33, 11:11-13,25

Is 42:1-7, 51:5, 52:10-15, 45:22, 2:1-3,

Gal 2:1-8, 3:7-9(compare this with Matthew 15:22-28), 3:22-29

Compare these together: Gal 3:28, 6:15, Col 3:9-11, John 1:11-13

That sounds interesting. We could do something like that.

Fromtheold,

1 Thessalonians 2:14-16 seems appropriate also, particularly verse 16.
