pray for my littliest son...

sermonindex May 7, 2008

My 3 yr old got bit by a tick over the weekend. We've been keeping an eye on him, and today he spiked a high fever... can be a sign of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

My wife is at the pediatricians office w/him.

This is generally treated with anti-biotics with no problem, but still a bit disconcerting for my wife especially.

Thanx y'all...

Krispy,

This can be traumatic...our daughter had a reaction like this too and she was treated for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. She recovered well. Praying and trusting your son will do likewise.

BTW, we also had a son who had a tick get deep into his ear and fasten itself on "something" in there, requiring a doctor's services to remove it. Who said raising children is boring? :-?

Blessings,
ginnyrose

Good news... they did blood work and ruled out Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. They couldnt determine what was causing the fever, but sometimes kids get a viral infection with no symptoms other than a fever... so who knows. He slept well last night, still sleeping in fact. Still feels a little warm.

So praise God it wasnt what we thought it might be. Still praying whatever it is goes away.

Thanks for the update Krispy. Praise the Lord! I know you and the family are thankful and we are as well. Have a great day and we will continue to lift the little one up in prayer.

He's up now and only has a low-grade fever. But seems to be in a playful mood and eating some breakfast.

Thanx for praying, my friends! I love y'all.

Actually, since I last updated he did spike a fever again... 103. My wife saw a couple of suspicious spots, and called the pediatrician. This time we saw our regular doctor, who is fantastic, and he said "bring him to me immediately".

He agreed the spots were suspicious and prescribed the antibiotics they use for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

His fever at that point lasted about 24 hours and finally went away... and he has been fine for the last couple days. Has about another 4 or 5 days on the antibiotics, but he should be A-OK.

Praise God.

Sorry I havent kept this updated, but we've had a crazy schedule since last week.

Krispy
