Christian Non Resistance toward Morality through Jesus Christ

sermonindex May 13, 2008

Is Pursuing morality in government a pleasing thing or displeasing thing to the Lord Jesus Christ?

Do we have any scriptural evidence that our duty as Christians and being salt and light would involve and desiring a moral government and an effort in striving to preserve and protect such?

Our Christian duty is to bring glory to the Lord and we can see all through scripture the Lord sent prophet after prophet talking to the nations warning them to revere his name in the way they lived their life in this world.

He gave warnings after warnings on what would happen to Israel if they did not. As individuals is it not our duty to strive in that direction and encourage other to do so.

If this is true and we know the only thing that will bring that desire to please HIM is to be born again and the Spirit of Jesus give us that desire to please HIM.

The attitude that moral government is not an important thing to some, is a very disturbing thing to me. I have heard it repeated over and over, that our citizenship is not in this world but in heaven and that we are only passing through and that is correct. We are strangers in this world but does that mean that HE desires us to ignore the calling to be salt and light until he calls us home.

I cannot even start understand how one come up with a well-constructed scriptural argument that would make any sense to me whatsoever how God is now or ever has been against good moral government on earth. As a matter of fact he warns us against what is not good moral government and what is sin. Good moral government and sin are a plus and a minus with sin being the minus. Now I’m not referring to salvation through the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ. We are all sinners saved by grace but I’m referring to Holiness (set apart) for HIS glory. We are either for morality or against it. We either gather with him or we scatter. I really don’t understand why there is a resistance by so many in this direction to be in opposition and against anyone supporting moral government in any nation. If anyone could explain this to me I would love to hear it. Now I understand where our priority allegiance is, but did he not say we are not to make an effort for a moral goverment on earth and he did not say pursuing morality is not part of our journey on earth but quiet the contrary?
