The American Bible Society's Catholic Connection

The American Bible Society continues to assist the Roman Catholic Church in preaching its false gospel.

Its current Spanish campaign, La Biblia Es Mi Guia (The Bible Is My Guide), features Catholic priest Alberto Cutie, a member of the ABS's board of trustees. "Padre Alberto" will participate in a series of radio and internet advertisements (Assist News, May 7, 2008).

Last year the ABS honored Cardinal Jaime Alamino, Archbishop of Havana, Cuba, during its Bible in Hispanic America Gala. The ABS is also sponsoring Roman Catholic Lectio Divina programs. Lectio divina is not simple Bible reading; it is a mystical practice that was developed within Rome's dark monastic system.

Richard Foster, who has had a far-reaching influence in popularizing Catholic contemplative practices among evangelicals, quotes Catholic mystic Madame Guyon as follows:

[i]"Once you sense the Lord's presence, [b]the content of what you read is no longer important[/b]. The scripture has served its purpose; it has quieted your mind; it has brought you to him. ... You should always remember that [b]you are not there to gain an understanding of what you have read[/b]; rather you are reading to turn your mind from the outward things to the deep parts of your being. [b]You are not there to learn or to read, but you are there to experience the presence of you Lord ![/b][/i]” (Devotional Classics)

The Bible clearly warns that those who assist heretics… or even wish them “godspeed”… become partakers of their evil deeds. (2 John 8-11)

Be aware of this before you donate money to The American Bible Society.

Thanks Krispy for the general alarm. It seems like we are taking hits from every side these days. Man! Mom, the 4th of July, and the American Bible society. It's just wrong!It just sounds wrong.

Already, true Christians, the all for Jesus crowd, are being marked as radical right wing extremists, and the animosity is being fired up more and increasing every day. How could it be, that such a group as the [u]ABS[/u] could be marked??. Are you a heretic, or just a nut??

If I'm not mistaken, Madame Guyon's visions and dreams were the inspiration for many of the unscriptural elements of Mel Gibson's "Passion" movie... which most Christians are too ignorant to realize that that movie was totally Catholic.

Now, I thought the Passion did an excellent job of giving me a better appreciation for what Jesus went thru... but the fact remains, there is MUCH about that movie that was unscriptural. But Christians loved it and lauded it as their own.

openlife: We have the Prophetic folks, and in particular the Kansas city folks, to thank for the endorsement of Catholic Mysticism as a viable prophetic and intercessory experience. [at least in America in our day].

Having lived there, I have heard a leader there say over and over that the Catholic connection was real and worthy, and tout their contribution to the prophetic ministry [of historical mystics such as Guyon.] as worthy and desirable. Later on, as Kansas city engulfed the fellowship into 24 hour prayer[ihop], the place was running amok with Catholic priests in full regalia, and some were practicing mass privately.[ for a season]

I have seen a papal nun, in her holiest of habits,[nun uniform] on the platform, ministering with this leader, as a major player in Europe in the "prayer movement", at KC, in perhaps 2002. Ihop itself practices monastic order and discipline. A sacred vow is necessary for you to perform your duties, a "fasted life style", and other rituals less biblical, such as "Speech fasting", [muteness] to obtain greater spiritual heights. The Catholic spirit of ritual and duty overshadow any inspired prayer or intercession, as "sets" are practiced, and music played to rote and set, over and over, as those that pray are confined to the script.

"High spirituality, cold Love". is the tag I have given it.

The Problem here is that this is nothing less than an anti-christ system that only confines the soul to catering to it's religious machinations, with no real devotion or worship; only a form of worship, a [b]duty[/b].

When a seeking soul believes this, that desires a "deeper" walk and absolute devotion, the doors are swung open to accept them. They, as the monks and nuns before them, for hundreds and hundreds of years, are taught that they are the few, the devoted, and the spearheads of sacrificial faith as "prayer missionaries".

"You are the ones that have given your complete lives to God; utterly devoted!, all for the success of the monastery; all to keep the vision moving" 2%,,,, maybe one half of one per-cent....that's who you are! The unsuspecting are flattered to a froth, and weekly honored and pumped up with various accolades, all designed to encourage a continued performance; all for God, All for the prayer, all for a dying world. their predecessors were given the same; a different colored robe , now and then, to keep them scrambling for honor. Some bite, and are hooked. They actually believe that this is the church.....the fallen tabernacle of David!

What could be more holy and worthwhile than that?? to give your life to such a noble ministry such as 24 hour devotion. It's all but dung, my friend. A feeble deception that I earn my holiness; another denial of the cross, in the most sacred of avenues. "High spirituality, cold love."

So we see that the Roman Church is just another expression of a SPIRIT, A personality. It is the person that is an enemy to the cross. Jesus came both eating, and drinking. He lived among sinners, never sinning, [b]NOT[/b] cloistered, not separated, not bound in ritual, but embracing the blood sweat and tears of everyday life, in a very free and unreligious way, and warred against this monastic system[pharisees] [holier, more committed than though!] every day. Jesus hates "high spirituality, cold love".

This was the main thrust of the Pharisee's hatred of them. They hated His freedom, and they hated the grace on his life. "full of grace and Truth" Grace is always united with truth, and the Pharisees did not have the love of the truth within them. For this, they were condemned. Such is the spirit of the Catholic kings, and there desire to dominate and control any vestige of freedom, and any part of the free remnant of the Lord.

Rick Joiner went to a Catholic sponsored Prophetic conference in St. Louis, Mo., in the 1990's, and was the head of the "bill". [I kept the fl yer for years.] All catholic, some robed up, some in suits.[about 100 of them] Why? I believe the Spirits controlling understand that the charisma [supernatural giftings in the church] IS the open gate, and if the catholic can contribute and serve here, then the denial of fellowship is virtually indefensible .

This is the same Rick Joyner who is a knight of Malta,[ a highly secret and catholic mystical club] displays a sword by the pulpit. Lots and lots of unscriptural prophetic teaching.[outer darkness is a distant part of Heaven..]

3.the youth movement.

These are the 3 current 'movements" , that I see, that Satan, and the catholic spirit has tried , and succeeded to infiltrate.

They all have an elitist spirit, an aire of high spirituality. They all associate with experience in devotion and worship as a high act of faith, rather than a daily walk among the pressures of daily life, there-by.

[b]The Conference.[/b]

The conference is almost an escape , to experience. It is not a venue as the conferences of old were, to absorb principles and ministries of the mature, but a vehicle, a limited journey to experience God, "IN A RADICAL WAY".

High spirituality, almost always noted by EXPERIENCE, that is always touted as the presence of God. This is the mission of catholic influence in these 3 arenas. There is usually a catholic influence, or minister [priest] there. Many praise ministers and groups are part of this growing phenomenon [ Catholicism in traditional protestant settings]

Prayer, Prophetic, and youth...sounds great...except that there is never a true foundation laid about the Blood of Jesus, and personal faith in Him ALONE,, and admonition's to bear our cross also....It ends up to be all experience! and to bring it home, Todd Bentley.

If Satan can get us out of the local assembly doctrines, to propel us unto a "movement" mentality, then we are bent towards a life of high spirituality, rather than a life of mercy, where imperfections lie; At our doorstep. The local church has teenagers! and the torment and agony that a parent feels as he see their's drifting into blackness....the local church has men and women that must work six or seven days a week to feed their babies, and even then suffer want....the local church has diapers to change, big and little.....marriage problems, deadbeat Dads, and moms, and messes,,,,yet, these are Jesus's choice. This is me, and you. this is where jesus walked, right in the midst......of us....the weak, being made strong.

The religious spirit would deny it all, and separate itself to really serve God, and find real committed prayer missionaries to join, and become a soldier for Christ on the highest level....a Knight in the kingdom......

The weak wait. alone, as the priest swings his incense, and the people chant, like Mina birds, singing sweet songs of love over and over and over, and the same prayers are lifted up, over and over, without effort and thought, and the body is never formed; never really functions, never really learns to love. It's to busy serving god in the deeper, more profound and mystical regions where the anointing is.

The American Bible Society is just a player that desires to further water the Word down, so that the true Church would be weakened more.

Whenever the true church establishes itself in "CATHOLIC" territory, there is persecution, and it is sometimes bloody. Ask your missionary friends in South America, and Mexico. We are despised by Catholic ministries, and opposed at every corner, as they hate the gospel. the fathers, on these precious recordings here at SERMONINDEX knew this. It was as natural to them as throwing a snake out of baby's bedroom. They, along with the reformers[Thank God for the brave!] knew the thinness of the mask, and most personally knew the true face behind, as they had fellow shipped the many burned alive, and horribly tortured to death by these kind fellows, the Papist's.

Never think that today, these infiltrators have changed. The faces have changed, through death of course, but the ancient spirit behind them is the same, desiring to eat the manchild.....to devour the church, before he grows to maturity. This is the experience those who fall here will have, They will be put asleep, and remain babies. babies are easy to eat. They can't fight, you see.

We all see the "Signs of the Times", yet, since we are so deep in the forest, we cannot see the forest, all we see are the trees, that surround us on every side.

Today, right now, the stage is set. 98% of all Bibles printed today use the corrupt Minority text, the text that created the Catholic Bible. "By their fruits ye shall know them". What is the "fruit" of the Minority text? 1)Catholocism and (2) the Apostate Church of today. Catholocism has been with us, almost since the beginning. The Apostate Church has formed before our eyes over the past 127 years.

Christ warned us, in His own words, of this prophetic time in history:
"15. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

The stage is set and the Tribulation is at our door. Believers in Jesus Christ are instructed to "look up", for their redemption draws near. At the same time, the non-believer, because of his/her non-belief, has been prepared for Antichrist and the False Prophet and the coming Tribulation.

Now is the time for Believers in Jesus Christ to witness to the lost, more than ever before. Now is the time to pray for the lost, more than ever before. Now is the time to spend more "Together Time" with the Lord and the Study of His Word, more than ever before.

In this together time, when we are studying His Word, as we read a verse, we should ask God:

A promise to claim?
Sin to avoid?
Warning to heed?
Command to obey?
Good example to follow?
Bad example to shum?
New thought about God the Father?
New thought about God the Son?
New thought about God the Holy Spirit?
Fresh insight into the person of Satan?
Fresh insight into Satan's cruel goals?
Fresh insight into Satan's subtle devices?

[b]We must, by the power of the Holy Spirit that indwells us:

"...be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24. For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.[/b]

That is precisely what I am saying, and that is the deception. The entire monastic system, embodied in the Catholic cloisters of today, and of old, do the same....devotion to 24 hour prayer and fasting, a other disciplines that portray a form of Godliness. This is done in ROTE, as it is done in most houses of prayer; IE, as a discipline, not a heart inspired act of faith.

The songs are controlled, and through discipline and rehearsal, played again and again, over and over. The prayers are controlled, and over and over people repeat the moderators theme, all under a banner of doe's and don'ts. It is not spontaneous, and spontaneous is not allowed. It is not prayer, in the biblical sense, a heart cry, and friendship, nor is it Worship, in the biblical sense, "In spirit and in truth". You cannot have spirit and truth with vain repetition and control. You have a religious symbol of truth and freedom, that is meaningless.

By the way, I was using the Apostle Paul's definition of his religious flesh, not mine. But, religious flesh it is.

You may use Anna as your prototype, but this movement does not possess the spirit of Anna. Anna cried to God, and interceded from her heart, and evidently found him.

Most of the prayer rooms[see God tv] have a pre-set format and guidelines that are performed by rote, and repetition. These are obviously NOT from the heart, but adapted as a method to fulfill the original. {DAVID's anointed worship, and the PSALMS] This is exactly what the religious spirit IS.

As I said, this is not new. The Catholic monasteries are the fathers of this system, having 1500 years experience before ihop and the like were ever thought of, doing the identical and same rituals,24 hour prayer and praise, calling it God's heart. If it is not in Spirit and in Truth, it is not of God, no matter how devoted and holy you might think it is. Where the
Spirit of the Lord is, "THERE IS LIBERTY!"

I might add, that great heresies were birthed in this wicked deception. It does not change the heart, or lead one into maturity, only into a form of it,,,a symbol of it.

Thank you Walter: I actually feel the somber and menacing opposition, when I talk about these issues. Trust me, this is Satan's honeycomb, and he does not want it found. We should not need support. I do not believe I[u]need[/u] it, but just hearing another witness of the truth is like a drink of pure water from the rock.

The world, the flesh, and the Devil. A brother put it this way, " what was held sacred for 1900 years by the true church, and the safe walls the church dwelt behind,[b]pure doctrine[/b], was torn down in one generation by the "charismatic ecumenical renewal" movement.

[paraphrased].........This was when the church accepted multitudes of catholics, as there own, with no repentance of their Satanic doctrines, one one criteria alone.....SPEAKING IN TOUNGUES, and singing in TOUNGUES.[ the sixties and seventies]

This set in motion a vast upheaval of stability in evangelical Christianity, that has flowered into the Satanic juggernaut that it is today. Well , if they speak in tongues, the holy spirit has to be in them, so we must accept them.....you see?....EXPERIENCE trumping the WORD, as it is today!

Paul said that if ANYONE, including himself, ever brought ANOTHER gospel to you, let him be accursed. And then Paul repeated himself, for affect, to color this statement with severity... Paul knew that holy doctrine was the prize that the devil coveted, for false doctrine would divert worship from Jesus, to affect worship unto another god....the god of this world.

Today, the experience has won over the Word in many arenas in Christianity. See Lakeland. Religious Christianity has thrown down the doctrines of the "who so ever wiil" door of the local church, filtering it down to the elite few, to perform "true dedicated and holy work."

A good thumbnail measure for me, has to do with the poor, and the very poor. If we do not see these desperate weak involved and healed and lifted up, [with a witness of holy lives being formed in them.]IN A LOCAL ASSEMBLY, God is not there. The young and the old, the poor with the filled...one body, one Love...Paul says that without the weak, you lose grace, as they need it more,,,,and then the strong can bask in it too.

This is the doctrine of MERCY, and the religious can NEVER produce it....Tom

I did qualify my response, though be it weakly, by noting that [b]most[/b] of the prayer rooms operated in the controlled an rigid repetitive fashion, as ihop does. I did not blanket all. I once enjoyed a corporate intercessory prayer life, that encompassed a lot of weekly time, also.

I apologize for any inference that I gave that to be given over to worship all the time is bad. It is wonderful if our hearts are united to the intercessory heart of Jesus, and an awesome place to be graced with.

I am pointing out that the form alone, and the doing of the form, without the Spirit leading in freedom and truth is something that the Catholics are masters of, and that 24 hour ministries today are doing the exact same ritualistic and repetitive services, and calling them Apostolic devotions. There is a difference. One abides and is born by the Spirit, and one is born by man , and abides under his control, all in the name of worship on a higher plane with a greater degree of devotion than the average church provides.

This is spiritual pride; an elitist spirit, that is born from religious duty and performance, to gain a higher standing and a greater honor FROM god. It is the core of a works faith, the twin sister of legalism.

I want to repent, and gain that place that I once held in freedom, in my secret life of devotions to Jesus alone. I fail, and that is between me and Him.
