Regardless of which candidate you are voting for consider the following words:
It is neither surprising or new that Christians, political factions and the media are having a field day with this presidential race. Is Senator Obama ushering in the anit-Christ? Yes, he most certainly is. Is President Bush? Yes he is. Was President Clinton, certainly. This is a sad and perverse generation. Our American presidents, congressmen, cabinet members, senators, representatives and state and local officials all compromise the Law of God on a daily basis. Our government regulated television shows, movies, news media, print media, interenet media are riddled with heresies, sexual immorality, and a compelling for the sake of the American dollar - inviting the families of America to partake in sin every day by not standing up for holiness. Every modern American president has perpetrated stiff infractions against the Holy Law of God for the sake of mammon. For the sake of our brothers and sisters in the Lord who are eager to focus on the apparent un-American, or un-godly characteristics of only certain leaders, and jump on pop-Christian themes like: why a certain political party shouldn't be in office and digging and searching for anti-Democrat, or anit- rebuplican propaganda, or December 21, 2012 Mayan end-times prophecy and how the end of the world is near....we should redirect them to lives of holiness and humility. As we pray for our leaders in spite of their political views, they are our leaders. Speaking against them, giving into rumors about them (no matter how true they seem or are), giving into damning testimony about them or their personal beliefs, we are called to pray for them, so that we might live in peace. I pray that more Christians were as devoted to Christ as they are to their political viewpoints and their eagerness to evangelize their political "truths".
1 Samuel 24:12
The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
How sad for us, if one who we greatly desire NOT to become president actually becomes president. We cannot take back the words, videos, emails in which we may have partaken, causing a bitter heart and cursing mouth against the Lord's appointed.
Titus 3:1-4
Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, to speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
May we live by the beautiful example God gave to His children in the accounts of David's and Jonathan's lives as God's children in the face of a wicked ruler in King Saul. Let us follow after Christ's example in men like them and not men like this world regardless of our political views.
Lord God, Father of all, in Jesus Holy and perfect name, bless us with Your peace. Peace between our sinful, wicked hearts that are at times so far from You. I pray that you would in these dark, and wicked times gives us strength through your perfect Spirit. I pray that this Spirit would guide us to the Truth of Your Word. Father, and as the whole world cries out for allegiance to it, and what it says is important, that we would be fixed on You and You alone. Lord, our weaknesses as mankind causes us to drift away from Your Truth. It causes us to be passionate about other things besides Your Word. Help us Lord, Your people to have our hearts devoted to You. Let us speak different than the world. Let us not seek alliances with the thoughts of this world. Let us not so easily take as truth, information from untested and unreliable sources. You are the only Truth Jesus. Let us not rail against your chosen authorities, let us not rail against assumed outcomes, let us not murder people that you died to save regardless of the condition of their hearts. Instead Father, grant us grace, courage and committment to your Truth, dilligence to Christ in us the Hope of Glory.
