Always among God’s people there has been a holy and believing remnant who prayed down the outpouring of the Spirit. When things were blackest and most discouraging, such as these sought the face of God, and God heard and answered their prayers.

Such is the case in the Church today. There are those who see the promises of God and are setting their faces to seek this new thing from heaven. Daniel “understood by books the number of years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet … and I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes” (Dan. 9:2,3).

“Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood … a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you” (1 Peter 2:9). Shall we be numbered among this holy remnant in these last days?

“Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field” (Zech. 10:1).

“Thus saith the Lord God; I will yet for this be enquired of … to do it … As the holy flock … so they shall know that I am the Lord” (Ezek. 36:37,38).

Men who could not be bought and women who were
beyond price. Yes, God has always had a people!!
There have been times when the Church's message
was nearly diluted into oblivion by those who
sought to make it more attractive, organized,
and profitable. The gospel has been gilded,
draped in purple, encrusted with jewels. It has
been misunderstood, ridiculed, ignored, and
scorned. These followers of Christ have according
to the whim of the times been elevated to sacred
leaders or martryed as religious heretics. Yet,
through it all, there marches that powerful army
of the meek, God's elect; who cannot be bought,
flattered, ignored, or silenced. Or through the
ages they march, a remnant of the righteous!!
