This Article is on the Southern Baptist org and the whole tongues issue. Its definitely an interesting read on the change of events that are going on.

I have always believed in ALL spiritual gifts and that as Christians we need to pray for the Lord to reveal and help us embrace our Gift/s.

But i have a Question on Tongues, what exactly is it? I know it can be a private or public prayer language (public with translation) but I have heard some who say it is also the ability to speak other languages w/o knowing the actual spoken language?

Last what did people like Ravenhill, Tozer, Edwards and the Wesleys think of this? anyone know?... I know Ravenhill didn’t believe in always speaking in tongues as an initial sign of Baptism of the spirit and well neither do I. But well I want to hear some opinions

Discuss.

In Christ.

Wow, alf. I think there is this can o' worms on this very website and quite some lengthy discussions on the topic.

I don't know whether speaking in tongues is only the language of men or the language of angels. This seems to be the contesting issue.

And maybe it is both...

Don't know if it is wise to start this again when such a large amount of discussion has already been done and archived here...

you make a point and i agree.

but one thing i am curious about is what fellow saints like Wesley, Edwards, Tozer etc. had to say about the subject. I believe if we stick to that and take out the personal opinion part it would be a much cleaner discussion?

and man on a side topic all of you should give an ear to the "Agony" compialation by Leonard Ravenhill (on the general forums) it almost brought me to tears...
