TORONTO (AFP) - An estimated one million people lined the streets of Toronto to watch the city's annual gay Pride parade pass in a riot of colour, thongs, leather and near nudity. The parade, one of the world's largest Pride events, was the climax of a week of festivities which included a "Dyke March" for lesbians on Saturday. Spectators watched a long line of floats parade down the Yonge Street, a main north-south route in the middle of Toronto, Canada's largest city. Marchers sporting bizarre costumes, leather, chains and even angels wings delighted thousands of people lining rooves of buildings along the parade route. One man, wearing only his underpants cartwheeled down the road, while another tiptoed painfully along in high heeled leather boots -- and little else. "Everyone's welcome in our city, and Pride is a celebration of respect for everybody," Toronto mayor David Miller told local CP-24 television.
