prayer request for Israel trip

sermonindex Jun 22, 2008

Dear brothers and sisters,

The Lord has brought an opportunity along for my brother and I to go to Israel next month on a youth adventure tour with Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry. The trip will last for 28 days, and 16 of those days will be spent doing volunteer work at an Israeli hospital. The remainder of the trip will be touring. It's a opportunity to show the love of Jesus Christ to the Israelis through sacrificial service. There is so much need over in Israel for the love and truth of Christ to be shown.

Anyway, I'd be most grateful for your prayers for this trip and for Jon and I as we prepare. Pray for the Lord to accomplish all that needs done before we leave, and for God to be glorified through this trip. And an urgent prayer request of the moment is for one more person to be added to the team. They're taking eight young people over there and are lacking one person, preferably a young man. So please pray about that.

If anyone is interested in receiving updates via email let me know. Lord willing, we'll be able to share what God is doing over there and share prayer requests also.

Thank you!

~Joy :-)

Father,
We ask that Your will be done in every aspect of this trip.
Give strength, Your Strength , to all who go, and let them speak Your Word in all they say and do.
You are the Potter, help these vessels who go, and mold them into Your Image.
In Jesus Name.

I was so excited for you when you told me about this. Will you be able to visit Ami? Please don't forget to take lots of pics and post them on your xanga for me when you get back.:-) Praying for you both. Have a wonderful trip!

Just wanted to share an update here that I am leaving for Israel on July 22nd! It has been so awesome to see how God has been directing and providing for this trip. His ways are great indeed!

For those interested in keeping up with the trip you can check out http://iya2008.blogspot.com/ and also my blog (linked in my profile). There are 11 team members, our two leaders, four guys and five girls.

Prayer is greatly appreciated! I'm really excited about this trip; it's something that I've wanted to do for several years, that is, mingle with the Jewish people, in this case, Israelis, and show them the love of their Messiah, Jesus. Pray for God to be glorified and for the glory of God to rest upon us. If you haven't listened to Bill McCleod's message on the Return of God's Glory, I highly recommend it. It's my burden for the Israel Youth Adventure Team that Jesus will indeed be seen in our countenances and actions.

Shalom!

~Joy :-)

You have and will be in my prayers. Last week I tried to do a blog contact/note on that site about what follows here, but I could not figure that out. I guess I will. Is that the way we will “get up-dates via e-mail” (your first post)?

I wish I could communicate the JOY God fills me with when I pray for your time there. There have been giggles even, with exclamations of “Roniya missionary”. Whatever has the Lord prepared for you? As you pack, I am thanking Him for how He has already packed you. :-D He is perfect.

Shalom! (beautiful with His Joy)

Much grace and peace be with you Joy. May His glory be truly revealed to others through you and those with you.

I do pray you be left with such a burden as never been felt for these people that still have the veil upon their hearts.

I know and sense your great love for our King and may many be drawn to Him as you minister.

We'll miss you here.

Your Sister, Kathleen

Thank you so much, precious sisters, for your prayers and encouragement. I thank God for each of you and the saints here on SI. I will miss you too!

We leave early tomorrow morning and will fly out of Kansas City at 7:45. Pray for safe traveling tomorrow.

As for updates, I hope to update my xanga (I'll pm you instructions on commenting, Joan), and perhaps send out some email updates with specific prayer requests. If anyone wants to be on that list, let me know.

May Jesus be glorified!

~Joy

We fly out of Newark for Israel this afternoon. Jon and I have been with some wonderful friends in PA for the last day. I even got to see some microfilms of the Scranton newspaper from 1913 chronicling Billy Sunday's crusade here. That was really interesting.

Appreciate prayer for today as we go through security and fly to Israel.

Thanks!

Glad to hear your enjoying your vacation.

Just a quick note to say that we arrived safely! It was a very good trip overall. One of our team members still hasn't made it, but she should be coming in soon.

I'm really praising God for what He's doing. I had a wonderful time visiting with a modern orthodox Jewish man on the flight.

Pray for us as we adjust to Israeli time and recover from the flight...we're pretty tired right now.

God is good!

Shalom!

Shalom ya'll, :)

Just thought I'd drop a note here asking for prayer as I fly back to the States tomorrow from Israel. We'll spend a day with our friends in Scranton, and then fly home early Friday morning.

I've really missed SI and am looking forward to getting home and catching up a bit on what's been going on here.

Thanks for praying for this trip. It's been amazing. :-)
