The first thing I want to do , is apologize to the forum for accusing Pat Robertson of endorsing Bentley, and thereby CBN, and the brothers there. This was unfair, and accusatory without hearing from Pat, or verifying his views. I lumped him in with one of his employees in the heat of my Post, and this was wrong. Forgive me, please.
crsschk,:Mike....I really liked your response and article. A few thoughts...After reading his statements to verify his endorsement of Bentley.
I thought of Mormonism. It is filled with fairy tales[...Emma. the fairy angel, only tells white lies..] and outlandish historical scriptures that speak of vast , brass age cities that existed upon the plains of America, and the gospel preached by Jesus himself to Native American tribes.
The problem with this, is that none of this can be verified today, through the Archaeological records. There is none, not one that has proved a brass coin was minted in America, pre-columbian, much less a city, nor one bit of evidence in tribal history about Jeshua [see Walter Martin's, KINGDOM OF THE CULTS], and His many visits to the Indians.
The Mormons are a part of American culture, and it's prowess in the Educational arena. Brigham Young University, is no lightweight. Senators, and Presidential candidates, on and on , successful and sound, yet they believe and submit to obvious lies and distortion. WHY?
I submit to you that the reason is Spiritual. Similar to the veil that the Lord has set upon Israel, that in the face and testimonies of the Spirit of God, they cannot, will not believe.
In the case of Gentiles, though, Strong Delusion.[Jews too.] God sends it, for they received not the love of the truth. This is a demonic curtain, that prohibits Holy Spiritual light from beaming in their spirits and hearts.
The Mormons, with their many brilliant minds cannot put l and i and e together, and the implications of it....a lie means it cannot be from God! [there are many, many more in the case of Mormonism.] Yet, they faithfully Honor a god of sorts, and attribute their Salvation to him, in the name of a Jesus, or a Christ.
This is strong delusion. It is a veil, or covering over their hearts. It is unreasonable, in that another power has usurped the authority of their will. It is a devil, or an organized grouping of them, that emanate real power, while demanding worship. It is unreasonable. It defends distortion and twisting, in order to maintain and validate it's own experience.
The AntiChrist will come, "with lying signs and wonders", so that the whole world will follow after him. This fellow, at Regent, had an experience, so "It had to be of God!", and thereby the twisting of his vast knowledge of the Bible, to insert his prejudices, and that by a demonic force, SENT BY GOD! You cannot argue him out now. You are wrestling with a Spirit, just as the Joe Smith crowd succumbed to.
You alluded to the slipperiness of his reasoning. It always is , with the demonic. He has been deluded, in his spirit. His mind must follow, and demands the reasons for his actions. Thereby, the argument, and the truth must be but an option, for facing it, and the holy scriptures, would cause him a destruction to his faith [seduced faith..], and mindset.
This is what often happens to men who live out their faith in there minds. It is a thought driven gospel, and the delusion is, that because I think it, I believe it, and thereby justified. NOT.
This happens much in the corporate gospel, the ranks of the paid, whose livelihood depends on getting their thoughts in order,; acceptable to the standards of their adapted Church, or Organization. The gospel must be lived, and obeyed. This is the only place where the Revelation of Jesus occurs. The illusion that one can think it out, or pontificate it's energies, result in friends like this. They are turned over to strong delusion, and as you inferred, Mike, use Bible to justify their experience...whether demonic, or not...I am Healed!...I will follow!
