TODD BENTLEY'S HEALINGS NOT VERIFIABLE

sermonindex Jul 18, 2008

This is from David Cloud. He's absolutely right... where is the verification of all these supposed healings??

Krispy

Todd Bentley, who is at the head of a Pentecostal healing "revival" in Lakeland, Florida, claims that multitudes have been healed and some raised from the dead. He slams people on the forehead, shoves them, and has even kicked an elderly lady in the face and banged a crippled woman's legs on the platform. "Holy laughter," spiritual drunkenness, violent shaking, and "falling under the power" are an integral part of the "revival."

The meeting has a sideshow feel with raucous music blaring and Bentley crying out, "Come and get some," and "[Miracles are] popping like popcorn." He claims to know what is happening in the audience, calling out things like, "Someone's getting a new spinal cord tonight."

The crusade began in April at Ignite Church and the crowds keep coming. Bentley's healing claims have been spectacular, with one man even saying he can now see out of a glass eye.

The Associated Press tried to follow up on a list of 15 names that were given by Bentley's ministry that is supposed to represent healings that can be medically verified. "Yet two phone numbers given out by the ministry were wrong, six people did not return telephone messages and only two of the remainder, when reached by The Associated Press, said they had medical records as proof of their miracle cure. However, one woman would not make her physician available to confirm the findings, and the other's doctor did not return calls despite the patient's authorization" ("Controversial Revivals Draw Even Pentecostal Critics," Christian Post, July 13, 2008).

It seems to me that the ability to see out of a glass eye could be easily verified. Bentley could send the guy for an eye examination, and that would be that, but don't hold your breath.

Bentley claims to be following in the footsteps of the apostles and exhibiting "kingdom power," but he is doing no such thing. The apostles did not conduct healing meetings. They didn't call out psychic healings. They didn't shake and laugh hysterically and stagger around like drunks and flop around on the floor. We believe in divine healing for today, but we don't believe in Pentecostal showmen (see "I Believe in Miracles"

The devil is just as much in the business of religion today as God, and the only way we can discern the difference is by comparing all teaching and practice to the Bible. In The Pentecostal-Charismatic Movements: The History and the Error, we document the phoniness that has characterized the ministries of Kathryn Kuhlman, Aimee Semple McPherson, William Branham, A.A. Allen, Jack Coe, Oral Roberts, Derek Prince, Charles Price, John Wimber, Charles and Frances Hunter, Benny Hinn, and many others.

May I suggest that these "miracles" be viewed in light of Jesus teaching as recorded in Matthew 7:22: Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

I often think of this verse: the extreme disappointment these people will face on judgment day! Or, did they know they were in rebellion against God and went on ahead and worked in defiance of Him to prove to themselves that obedience is mere optional and that God will bless anyways? If this is the case may I be so bold as to suggest they deserve hell?

According to this scripture healings/miracles may be verifiable and if so, one must ask, "yes, but where do they come from?" In Bently's case the situation is more cut and dried: none have been forthcoming.

For those who may inquire of me about the list of names at the bottom of my original post, and request proof of their false miracles... please keep in mind that I only wrote the first sentence of that post. The rest of it was written by David Cloud.

If you want more information on those people, and what David Cloud is referring to... I refer you to his website.

Ginny... it's also interesting that in the 2 decades that Benny Hinn has been doing his schtick, he has never once been able to provide any verification for one single "healing". There have been some that he has tried to pass off as proof, but it was simply a case of the person recovering naturally from an illness... nothing miraculous.

Yet he claims to have given sight to the blind, raised the dead, caused the deaf to hear... and the media has given him every opportunity to provide proof (they're not ignoring it, as some say)... yet he can produce nothing.

I remember when Robert Tilton was busted in the early 90's. A friend of his came forward and talked about how the whole thing was a big joke to Tilton and himself when they were young. They's put on their "show" and the money came rollin' in.

For some of these people, it's a show. WV Grant was shown to be a fake when ABC intercepted radio transmissions from his wife behind the scenes into an ear piece he was wearing. She would talk to people in the crowd, get their illness... and then relay the info to Grant via radio waves... and then suddenly he would "get a word from God" about someone with hearing problems. He even healed an ABC undercover reporter of one leg being shorter than the other... even tho she didnt have that problem at all. He was set up.

This stuff goes on all the time.

A person like has to be an atheist... I cant imagine if you even suspected there was a God that you would dare do these things. There is no fear of God.

... but there will be one day.

Way of the Master Exposes Todd Bentley

D
davym Jul 18, 2008

Bentley is trampling on our Saviour's name.

While he's not the first and unfortunately probably won't be the last, this is a tragedy for both him and the many followers being duped.

It looks to me that Lakeland is becoming a kind of cult and for our own well being is best ignored. Our flesh can become strangely fascinated with this type of show.

I wish it would just go away. It's terrible to see so many people taken in. It's also being broadcast worldwide. How long can God tolerate this?

I know that the matter of Todd Bentley's meetings has been discussed many times on this forum and most people are pretty clued up with what he is about. Nevertheless I came across a great article that goes through many issues surrounding Todd Bentley, and extensively lists the scriptures which show him to be fake. It is well worth a look.

After listening to this podcast... I think Bentley is a pathological liar. I dont believe any of this stuff he's saying.

It's interesting that Bentley sounds eerily like Sam Kinison.

(If you dont know who Kinison was, just take my word for it... dont google him. He was a raunchy blaspheming comedian)

by the way, does anyone know how to que-up the

I wanted to use it on my last post.. & couldn't find it

Krispy: I remember Kennison. He became famous after blaspheming Jesus, as a blasphemer, on the Comedy circuit. He was once a minister in the AOG, I believe, and finally gave up, and turned after Satan in a big way. He had no conscience, it seemed. He would do a Hawk scream that had a raspy screech to it, to emphasize his voice, on the "punch line." It does sound like someone we know.

He especially liked to mock Jesus, and Christians. He was very cutting edge, and was on his way to the Hollywood "A" list, when an unfortunate scripture verse came to pass. "Be you not deceived....God is not Mocked!"

On his honeymoon night, he and his beautiful trophy wife were tragically killed as he crashed his new Porsche.

I personally believe that Bentley knows exactly what he is doing, and has made the transition willfully, with much blasphemy. In the end, we will see who is mocked,

sermonindex Jul 18, 2008

Amen...

It's reported by witnesses that moments before Kinison died he did walk away from the wreck, sat down on the curb and had a conversation... witnesses said there was no one there, and they thought he was talking to himself.

He said something like (I'm paraphrasing)... "No, I don't want to go yet... Please, it's not time yet... ok... ok... if you say so..."

And then he died. Unfortunately I'm certain it wasnt God he was talking to.

But we're getting away from the purpose of this thread.

Concerning Todd Bentleys total lack of verification; Not even One miracle or healing!

I believe your report, and have seen some of your facts on the media. Krispy: I am waiting on men like Carter Conlin, Mike Bickle, and Pat Robertson to stand up and cry Wolf. I know some have, and some, like Conlin have inferred their disgust in previous false revivals.

I'm not throwing stones, but doesn't it seem that there should be more of an outcry, when the numbers of followers arrives in the millions, with a sustainable and equitable number of flat out lies and heresies?

Let the media invade, for the church will not expose; at least not the established leaders we look to. [ Again, some have stood up. I am looking for hundreds to be outraged.]

Not one healing verified?

[20 some ressurections from the dead, though....]...Why does the math concern me?

sermonindex Jul 22, 2008

I think there is wisdom in some of the Christian leaders not jumping too quick... and investigating whats going on before they make a public statement.

However, there is this "judge not" attitude among Christians at large today, and they learned it from their leaders. So what are we to expect.

Also... with many big name leaders today they have to consider everything before they make a move. Money, followers, numbers... you know, important things like that.

Truth takes a back burner.

Regardless of any current lies or demonic activity in Lakeland, there lies a wealth of Historical evidence to disqualify Mr. Bentley from any ministry in a Bible believing fellowship. It is overwhelmingly non-Christian, and documented by written teachings and possibly thousands of video records.

These cultic and mystic foundations have been documented for several years in Bentley's ministry. Emma came to him some time ago, and how could he teach until corroborating with Paul and Abraham? I remind you, these were all pre-Florida.

Four months at Lakeland alone, with some of the most blatant and ugly manifestations of faith ever seen in American Christianity, combined with a trail of twisted and perverted doctrine of about 10 years, should be enough for most Godly men to stand up.

Most of our leaders have endorsed him though. This is nothing less than strong delusion, sent by God to men who loved something else than the truth. I disagree with the "jumping to quick" excuse. Your heart and God given discernment will cry out with something so obvious as this being wicked, if it united with some maturity, and a love of the Truth.

Bentleys foundations and ministry are proven to be based on LIES, and that is chrystal clear. He is popular though.

sermonindex Jul 22, 2008

Most of our leaders have endorsed him though.

Anyone who lacks what little discernment it takes to see that Bentley is a heretic is not my leader. In fact, there are only a handful of men I trust enough to consider to be a leader in my life... and all of them are local. I refuse to follow national Christian "leaders". I respect some of them, but I dont "follow" them.

This is nothing less than strong delusion, sent by God to men who loved something else than the truth.

I said exactly the same thing last week on another thread about Bentley.

I disagree with the "jumping to quick" excuse.

You misunderstood me, brother. If you go back and look at some of the original threads about Bentley you will notice that I didnt have anything to say about him for awhile. Why? Because I didnt know anything about him. So I took my time, viewed the videos, listened to the audio's... etc. Formed my opinion, prayed for a couple weeks about it, and then began to speak against him.

I think thats wisdom. Why just shoot from the hip and talk about something you dont know anything about? Thats called foolishness.

When I used the word leaders, in relation to American Christianity, I did not mean to imply that these men were leaders in the realm of oversight on any individual level, but referred to them as leaders in reputation and influence, coupled with sound biblical doctrine with godly fruit. In this sense, they certainly have more influence than you or I, at least in the natural plane.

After interviews on several National newscasts, and four months of revelry, it is time to decide whose side you are on. This is for the undecided, or the young. If you[being a man of influence in the Kingdom] are silent..I believe your silence is your condemnation, or endorsement by capitulation. [that's not capitulation to Jesus, if you wondered.]

We are now possibly entering into a level where millions is not enough....over ten million, moving on to twenty....[with the curiosity sparked by Fox, Nightline, CBS,etc.] This is mixture of the wicked and holy on a colossal scale, and as I mentioned in another post....SCORES of leaders have their Sails tied to Emma...[ she holds the bags of gold, afterall.]

I am, and was directing my post generally, Krispy, and I know that you wanted understanding; sight before you leaped. I am appalled at the lack of men who should have jumped by now, for the many who trust in them, need to know.. "Is this of God, or is it of the Devil?"

They could help many, or as have the leaders who endorsed this cackling liar, hurt many. "Feed my Lambs!"

This is the command for the true Shepherd. He lays his life[and reputation] down for the sake of those young given him. He makes them to lie down [ in safety] in green pastures. He protects those given him; under his care.

Why haven't more men of God stood up, and called Baal BAAL? We must care for the stragglers and weak, and the young. If they succomb to the wails of this dark symphony, they may be lost.

"If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen."

- 1Peter 4:11(KJV)

Do our public discussions of others, our opinions about them and our ideas about thier motives, reflect from Heaven?

Is it appropriate to speak for ourselves about these things in this way?

... that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen."

Jud 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

2Co 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Is it appropriate to speak for ourselves about these things in this way?

Would it be appropriate to remain silent in light of them?

Is making too big of a deal something to be said over against it's counter part, making too little a deal of it?

... in this way, it is worth our pondering ... I recognize how I have allowed this to push myself to a point of exasperation prior and wishing some things had been left unsaid ... in that manner that you speak of, it is regrettable.

I think I am more afraid of the balancing act than anything with this. There isn't enough outcry to be shouted until it comes to it's demise. The roots of this thing are deep and wide and I do not know that equivocating on it is going to do anything but feed it's perpetuity.

I think it is beyond appropriate but an obligation that we have to warn, to exhort, to plead, to be very grave about it, sincere and earnest. The God who we profess to love is having His very glory and honor due Him tarnished and made sport of, his Holy Spirit mocked ... I cannot finish this.
