Speaking for God

I think there are at least two ways that we can convey to our hearers that we are speaking for God, even if we have not said so directly:

In the level of authority that we speak with

"And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes."

- Mark 1:22(KJV)

In speaking about the unseen issues of the hearts and motives of men, with the same authority

"I the LORD search the heart, [i]I[/i] try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, [i]and[/i] according to the fruit of his doings."

- Jeremiah 17:10(KJV)

The Lord Jesus, our Prophet said,

[b][color=660000]I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. [/color][/b]

- John 8:26(KJV)

I think if there is a current application for us, it could be this:

That if we are going to participate in condemning false prophets, that we hold ourselves to the highest possible standards in our own utterances, especially those which convey to others that we are or may be speaking for God.

Otherwise, while we burn with ire against what we call their circus, we ourselves are having a kangaroo court.

"How long shall [i]this[/i] be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, [i]they are[/i] prophets of the deceit of their own heart;"

- Jeremiah 23:26(KJV)

If we speak about others with the authority of God, or in speaking about things which only He knows, and the things we say are not true, or come from our own heart, would this apply to us?
