High-Definition Digital Camcorder For SI?

Saints,

I will be traveling to meet some precious saints in the months to come and at the revival conferences. I thought it would be good to have a camcorder to record some interviews and sermons.

I would be open to advice for any saints that know about high-defintion recordings better then myself. I would need it paticularly for web distribution and not for DVD. I saw this camera for $149:

I am pretty sure it has a tripod option at the bottom. If a saint feels led to get this for SI let me know. I am praying about making this purchase soon.

Has anyone used this model or ones similar? I am looking to get the 16:9 ratio for internet use.

Hi Greg,

It seems to be an excellent value for the price. One thing to note is that I couldn't find if it allowed for outside audio connectivity. I think you might want this, especially for sermons. The ability to run direct sound in from a soundboard, or even a higher quality mic might be vital to the usability of the recordings. Even a small mono input would be very helpful.

Yes great thought brother, but one thing it will only have a 2x zoom so it would have to go up on the front row to capture a preacher.

Great point. A strong optical as well as digital zoom can make the camera much more usable! Besides being able to be 'out of the way' in a church setting, zoom photography gives you more position options, and without the effects of foreshortening.

Hey brother Greg. I recently purchased the Aiptek Hi-def camcorder for 149.99 at Target. It was the black one. I don't intend to confuse your decision but maybe it would be good to compare the two.
The Aiptek, probably unlike the Sony, is very simple to use without bells and whistles but works and records excellent video quality. It has one push to record button and one push to snap a picture button. The sound has not been to bad either.
Overall it is a simple, inexpensive camera with no bells and whistles that does a good job with what I need it for.

I understand you are using this for a larger audience and need some forms of enhancements. Forgive me if I have only added confusion.
