'O Fair I See"

‘O Fair I See”

A student of the word I’ve been, much knowledge I have gained
I’m set apart from worldly men through wisdom I’ve attained
Through diligence and discipline my godliness has grown
I’m well respected by my peers, in honor my name known

I thank the Lord for His commands, I strive each one to keep
Not like the wandering multitudes of men as dumb as sheep
My friends are all devout and true to maintaining what’s right
While other’s stumble in the dark, I walk in the light

I pray and fast and memorize and then I meditate
I love the Law and Prophets therefore evil do I hate
I’m careful not to mingle with the common multitude
Their ignorance and folly I consider just plain rude

Here lately though the common crowd is rumored to be seeking
Some self-made prophet’s miracles and words that he is speaking
They’re saying he might be the One that we have long awaited
But common men are just like fish on hooks that have been baited

We know prostitutes and publicans and lawless men like such
Should never be considered wise, they can’t know very much
But men who who’ve studied and been trained are those who truly see
Better than most, not meant to boast, just humble men like me

As you point out we all are blind. But yet some are willing to go.

Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
