Thank you everyone for the prayers. This storm was the worst Baton Rouge has ever experienced, surpassing Katrina, Andrew and even Betsy. It was reported that the eye of the storm passed within 10 miles of us. I haven’t been able to make it back to my house yet to check for damages, but hope to be able to get back there today. Two trees were totally uprooted in my parents backyard. One of them fell on a corner of the house, but thankfully did not cause much damage. 99% of our city is without power. I suspect the only reason we have power at my parents house is because they live close to the electric company’s administrative office.
I don’t know that I’ve ever experienced anything so frightening. However, right before the storm began to hit us yesterday morning the Lord comforted me with this Scripture – The Lord is at hand; be anxious for nothing.
We are thankful that we made it through the storm. Please pray for our city. We have a lot of work to do.
