Any saved SI member that does not speak and/or pray in tongues

Am curious. Are there any saved member here that does not speak in tongues. Thanks

I do not speak in tongues.

Arguments about "speaking in tongues" are therefore a diversion arranged by Satan to sidetrack believers from total devotion to Christ.

The greatest Christians in the world have been those who loved the Lord Jesus supremely - whether they spoke in tongues or not. Some like Peter, James, John and Paul spoke in tongues. Others like John Wesley, Charles Finney, D.L.Moody, A.B.Simpson, William Booth, C.T.Studd and Watchman Nee never spoke in tongues (as far as we know). But they all received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, they all loved the Lord with all their hearts and they ALL walked the way of the cross. These truths were central in their lives. Other things were secondary.

Let us follow their example and we won't go wrong..

Thanks hmmhmm. I actually thought you spoke or prayed in tongues. I don't either. LOL, don't worry, I don't place the gifts before seeking Jesus. Maybe I don't speak in tongues because I was initially scared of speaking in tongues but now am fine with it.

I don't speak in tongues. I pray to receive this gift but if the Lord sees fit to withhold it then I will still be content.

I speak in the same toungue as Charles Spurgeon, D L Moody, Paris Riedhead, Kieth Daniel, Ian Paisley..... Yes sir, English.
At one time I had the opportunity to cultivate the gift of speaking in a toungue...but to my shame I did not pay attention and therefore Spanish remains to me an unknown toungue. :-(

It may be helpful for you to remember what Paul states is the purpose of spiritual gifts:

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: (1st Corinthians 12:7)

Consider the gift of tongues that was bestowed on the apostles at Pentecost. It was for the common good of the many nationalities that were present at the time. This gift allowed those nations to hear the gospel of Jesus.

Speaking in tongues is no sign that one is more spiritual than another.

I speak in tongues, but I know brothers and sisters that do not that are bringing forth the fruit of the Spirit in their lives. I know others that speak in tongues that have little or no fruits of the Spirit being manifested.

We have been predestinated to be conformed to the image of God's son. In the end, all that will matter is how much of Jesus do we have being manifested in our lives.

Praise God that we don't have to settle for either the gifts or the fruit, but we can have both.

I have never experienced "tongues" for myself, though I have greatly desired whatever gifts possible from the Lord.

In addition to American English, I have been known however to speak British, Australian, and Kiwi.

I so happen to be bi-lingual which occurred because of the culture I was brought up in. Nothing supernatural about it. In the meantime, I work to walk close with the LORD so that my speech will always be seasoned with salt and love to all....

As a member of a Southern Baptist church for the past seven years I have never seen anyone in the congregation speak in tongues -however I do not doubt the salvation of many of my fellow church members.

I do not speak in tongues, if it is a gift that God wants to give me I will not reject it, but I am actively seeking to be someone who is able to teach and edify my brethren with the language that God has already given me.

I studied Korean and Mandarin Chinese in University, and I have been trying to learn Japanese for the past several months as I have been serving in Tokyo. I have to say, if God can teach me a new language in an instant, I would be the first one in line to receive it, because language learning is one of the most tedious and strenuous things that you can ever attempt.

Am curious. Are there any saved member here that does not speak in tongues. Thanks

(see Paul's rhetorical questions in I Corinthians 12:29-30). :-)

Different gifts, ministries, and effects are given to different people, but there is only one Spirit, one Lord, and one God (I Corinthians 12:4-6).

Now, the better question to ask would be: "Are there any saved members here who do not prophesy?" That's a gift we should all be earnestly desiring continually (see I Corinthians 14:1).

LOL Spoonen :-P . This thread occurred because I came upon something in my reading and it just happened to do with tongues. That's why my question on tongues.
