For a long time I agonized over the fact that in our fellowship our worship was orchestrated, our prayer meetings agenda driven, our preaching correct but lacking in transforming power, our relationship with God and each other shallow and many things done in the flesh.
Today we had an unusual prayer meeting. After our time of bringing our usual requests before God, somebody broke out in tears. We prayed that we would know the reality of our state. There was acknowledgement of our religious busyness that missed the point. We came before God asking how real our worship really is in His sight. We began to see that we are blind, naked, wretched and poor.
It was a day of small beginnings. No, the Glory did not fall. Yet, somehow I sensed that God smiled over us at HPC. Tomorrow we want to meet again outside our normal schedule to hear God speak. Please pray for our feeble attempt to get right with God, may the enemy be kept back and flesh not take over.
