The New Cross-Tozer

F
Fuegodedios Sep 24, 2008

The new cross does not slay the sinner,it redirects him. It gears him into a cleaner and jollier way of living and saves his self-respect. To the self assertive it says, "come and assert yourself for Christ." To the egotist it says, "Come and do your boasting in the lord." To the thrill seeker it says, "Come and enjoy the thrill of Christian fellowship." The Christian message is slanted in the direction of the current vogue in order to make it acceptable to the public.

I saw this article some months ago, its amazing how much that applies to today. Its like in Jeremiah 23:17 where the false prophets were making God appeal to their wickedness.

"They say continually unto them that despise me, Jehovah hath said, Ye shall have peace; and unto everyone that walketh in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil shall come upon you."

Its like the cross to people today is a symbol of "hope" rather than a symbol of change; From old nature to new, darkness to light. People would rather stay the same and add God to their arsenal of justification than change and conform to the image of His Son.
Tozer was on point bro!
