Strange thoughts upon hearing the Featured Sermon: Can we have Revival?

I remember hearing somewhere that in the not too distant past Toronto, the city, was called “Toronto the Good” as a consequence of God moving through there. A few months ago I read the Autobiography of Oswald J. Smith, so it was good to hear his voice and this message “Can we have revival?”

There is one thing in this message that I cannot shake thoughts of: his report that [b]all over the city there were found small pieces of paper with the words GET RIGHT WITH GOD printed on both sides[/b]. Now I freely share the gospel but have never, in the standard manner, passed out tracks. Do you think they would arrest a quiet, little old lady, dressed in her Sunday best, that left small pieces of paper (?littering?) everywhere she went (footprints). I find that 45 “GET RIGHT WITH GOD” fit on standard sheet of paper (3 col/15 rows). This morning I awoke with the thoughts, “Coming soon.” and “Coming to a theater near you.” and other such things for the other side. Is it possible that a theater in Atlanta will be closed to movies but given over for preaching?

How I wish I lived in Atlanta! People need to be prepared. There is so much happening there very soon (remember the street evangelism preceding the conference?). I just may send a shoebox full of these to the Lilburn church.

And why not Scotland? With the way God is leading me to pray for Scotland, “Coming soon to a pub near you,” seems more fitting.

OK, I can calm down but the thoughts of this still fill me with Joy. Maybe street preachers are too.

I was probably in a weed-filled desert at that time.

But I certainly know why you thought of that “[u]Perhaps Today[/u].” I thought the same thing when “[u]Coming soon[/u]” occurred to me. And then there is the sense of urgency. Periodically after I pray (including revival and the conferences) and I am quiet and still before Him, I hear echoes of His Word that He brought to my mind to pray. Then it occurs to me I may well be asking for the Lord’s return. It’s like sometimes I can’t tell the difference. You would have to be a dead man to not recognize the bold acceleration of waves of wickedness. This is the first year I have been able to understand how even the elect could be deceived.

The Autobiography was “The Story of my Life.” rescued from the back room of an estate sale. It is woven from dairy entries. The early years are wonderfully encouraging to anyone bursting to share Christ and struggling to find God’s will in his or her life (deep in the woods preaching to Indians and “gangs of low-down men,” the Turtle Creek revival, shots fired as meetings concluded, etc). And this early twenty-year-old writes: “Sick and discouraged. My life seems so useless, so worthless. My dreams of service have never yet come true. Will I ever find God’s place for me? I am doing so little, so little.”

How we need to pray. There is a great relationship between prayer and faith. Will He find faith?

Yes, there is an urgency in the Heart and Voice
of God like never before. Soon the days of His
gracious invitation to come to the cross for
salvation will end and the time for judgment
and His kingdom will come. We need to watch,
wait, and pray we be found ready in that Day
of the LORD!!

I must say after church in the "ends of paper" stack (scrap that gets recycled or sometimes cut up for notes) there were individual sheets of slightly stiff multi-colored paper AND three envelops, slightly damaged. I just could not resist using the copy machine. [b]They look beautiful!!! The words: so beautiful[/b]. I cannot resist this Joy. Do people that pass out tracks always feel this Joy? They should talk about it. I’ve been to churches where they have Bible verses posted on the inside of bathroom doors.

If someone has the address for a supporting church in Greenock it would help (pm). Do they even do street evangelism in Scotland? Sigh. I am so ignorant. I could send a copy of the first post to explain the odd package, or not.

Get Right with God.

Well I can't speak for anyone else but I am from Scotland and I know God.

Know as I was contemplating what to post on here. I thought about the church and christianity and the need to get right with God. For example take these street pastors whats the difference between them and the salvation army. Appolus don't be offended here just using them as an example as you mentioned them on this post.

As the Salvation Army grew rapidly in the late 1800s, it generated opposition in England. Opponents, grouped under the name of the Skeleton Army, disrupted Salvation Army meetings and gatherings, the usual tactics being the throwing of rocks, rats, and tar, and physical assaults on members of The Salvation Army. Much of this was led by publicans who were losing business due to the Army's opposition to alcohol and targeting of the frequenters of saloons and public houses.

Know we see these so called street pastor where the opposition to them. There is none because they are not a threat to the Kingdom of Darkness they are not preaching the gospel of the Kingdom.

The church is powerless right know why because it's not Holy. That's the difference between the Salvation army of old and the street pastors of today. We come up with our plans and hope God blesses them. What about giving up all our plans and surrendering to God and his will.

We must get right with God........

Don't worry about Scotland Joan when God moves in my Nation and to the rest of the World it will be different but we must get right with God.

Great site. It was good to get to know the sons in Scotland more. “Sons in Scotland” is a personal phrase to me, something out of prayer. No disrespect to daughters. But don't you kinda Love them? I mean really? Maybe it is because we are praying for them. They are strange though.

Yes, I am thinking God could definitely saturate that "healing room" in Revival (they pray) and maybe I could see it. Thank you for showing me this. I pray for the Sons in Scotland. It’s like a question that hurts, heart to heart. “Are there no more sons in Scotland?” There must be. There just must. If I could, I would put that on every billboard over there and I don’t even know what it would mean to them. Sigh. Maybe it is to wake up the heart of God in them. Calming down now.

This is not becoming, and actually goes to belie your own self-assessment.

That's the difference between the Salvation army of old and the street pastors of today. We come up with our plans and hope God blesses them.

Murrcolr: I have paid attention to the ways of God in His Word and in lives. Here is one thing I have seen. It encourages me. God puts people in specific places. Those street preaches, who may not know God, may be asleep or intimidated, when God comes in Revival, when they meet Him, they will be where? In perfect places. I am not saying what God will do. I do not know. But it’s a bit like looking at the roads, already built, at the time of Christ. Revival in the Church will touch them because they are there in the Church. I am really just praying. I love you brother. We could meet on the streets in Revival.

I know in America what it means to call what a Christian does a “ministry of presence.” Like with all of us, there is Truth and the hidden things of the heart. But no one escapes in revival. Duncan Campbell did not.

About the alcohol: America is asleep in new cars, TV and cell phones (stuff), groggy with fast food. I do think Scotland is different (still the same in the root). In revival it will be “Coming soon to a pub near you.”

It must be very hard, frustrating, anger tempting to have a great heart for God and live in Scotland. We know a bit that here in America. I met hating the enemy of God during Lakeland when I saw a man from Scotland come to take that delusion back. For a second it was like I wanted a gun. Or a massive wall of fire separaing Lakeland from Scotland, and England too. But it was love for the little ones that lead in prayer. I know we all pray differently as he leads. Oh that we may give Glory to God on the streets where you live.

PS. [u]Both you Sons of Scotland seem to Know there will be no stopping[/u]...I don't hear this in America. This must be in the heart of God over there.

I would quote to you the saintly Finney: “Away with your milk and water
preaching of the love of Christ that has no holiness or moral discrimination in it, away with the preaching of Christ not crucified for sin.” On this very truth a highlander minister stated once: “Bring me a God of all mercy but no just, bring me a God of all love but not righteous, and I will have no scruples in calling Him an idiot of your imagination.” Alas, the American Church has embraced such a “idiot” conception of God. Is that hard to hear? It will sound much harder to hear the words from the
judgement bar of God: “depart from me, I never knew you.” We are afraid to disturb people these days, we are afraid to preach against sin, we sit in church and are not moved.

You can use these statement above for churches worldwide.

These street pastors are not preaching the Gospel they work closely with the authorites and those same authorites will limit what they can and cannot do. Look at there web site do you see any testimonies of people getting convicted of sin.

Please don't think they are preaching they are not. They are not street preachers. The authorties would not allow them to do it.

Don't be so stupid to stand up for some wish, washy, watered down thing that would like to call itself the gospel.

The church is not asleep, the church is not at ease, the church is not sick. THE CHURCH IS DEAD can't you hear Gods Voice. THE CHURCH IS DEAD.

How can that be you may ask? The Church is dead because of sin, where not Holy, we have a form of Holiness but we no have power because of sin. We must get victory in our lives over sin that was why Jesus died on the cross to deal with Sin and death that had enter into this world. We are born sinners and we must accpet the full benefits of what Jesus did on the cross and become Holy and we must pay the price whatever that may be so we can become pure as Men and Women can be or we will keep on living defeated lives calling it Christianity.

But in the middle of this mess we are in Gods got a plan, GOD WILL HAVE A PEOPLE who will stand and preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to a lost and dying generation.

A People of Victory prepared for Christ return.
They'll be victorious over the beast, they'll be victourious over the image, they'll be victorious over the number.

There will be no stopping them many will die many will be persucted and punished but they will be Victorious.
