...revival? really?

sermonindex Sep 29, 2008

The following is by Rick Frueh:

We have constructed our own evangelical tower of Babel which in the end leads nowhere. We have mixed the holy with the profane. We have become a wild ass, running and frolicking without any restraint. We have jumped the fences of the Lord and we are grazing in the pastures of the heathen.

We dine at Hollywood's trough on Saturday night and lift up dirty hands on Sunday. Our church buildings are our glory and our prayer closets are our shame. We worry about the economy but sleep well while souls perish. We make celebrities of preachers and show disdain for praying grandmothers.

We herald politicians and refuse to preach Christ on the street. We criticize lost sinners but speak well of the harlot church. We have become prisoners of America's hedonism and yet we proclaim we are free.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: We are in desperate need of a massive and church shaking revival that breaks our earthen vessels...

And Lord Jesus, let it begin with each of us today.

Amen!

Dear friends, Art Katz's biographical commentary written by Peter Brock has finally arrived at my house and I cannot put it down. We have all heard his voice thunder to selfish, world-infested so called 'christians' in the buildings around the world. This book is just that, a living proof of the indictment that Art was towards man, flesh. Can we/Will we pick up the baton (misspelled?) and speak the words of God as Art did, without compromise? This is what the world needs, fools for Christ, without shame, to bring the sword of the Lord to bear on the hearts of his apostate.

I am wondering if there is still time and the Lord's mercy toward us for many more men and women in the Spirit of Christ to echo, "Thus saith the Lord..."

That part about Hollywood reminded me of this quote by Michael Brown:

“When Marie Monson, a Norwegian missionary to China, was taken captive by Chinese pirates, she subsisted fro two weeks on just three or four eggs a day rather than eat stolen food. The pirates would often come and urge her to eat more. But she would always reply, “No, I cant’ eat what you have looted.” Yet we have had little or no problem freely giving our money to places that one week show blatant pornography and violence, and the next week some nice “family flick.” Where is our sense of dignity and uprightness? Where is our abhorrence for sin?”
