The Life of John Hyde::

Brothers and sisters, I'm looking to get the life story of John Hyde, but I'm finding FOUR books...and I was really only planning on getting ONE book...

Does anyone know which book is the more popular one?

1) "Praying Hyde, The Apostle of Prayer: The Life Story of John Hyde" by E.G. Carre

2)"Praying Hyde: Missionary to India" by Basil Miller

3)"Praying Hyde: A Man Of Prayer" by Basil Miller

4) "Praying Hyde" by Basil Miller (1943)

I have the book "Praying Hyde, The Apostle of Prayer: The Life Story of John Hyde" by E.G. Carre.
I haven't read any of the others, but this one did describe John Hyde in many aspects. What a prayer life this man held! And not many understood his calling, which is devastating. It did teach me though, that the Lord uses us in different ways. This man surely spent his life in vigorous prayer for the spiritually dead.

I do not know which one I read, I think it was from Basil Miller. Very recommendable. In my eyes he was one of the greatest saints that we know of from the last century.

I just read the one compiled by E.G. Carre (borrowed it from my church library). My version had several accounts of John Hyde (around 3) written by different authors. I found it very helpful but it was more like profile snapshots than a comprehensive biography. The setting for much of it was India around 1910.

Mr. John Hyde often didn't eat and often didn't sleep but he did give himself to prayer and did bear fruit.
