My sister-in-law said she started this new book called "The Organic God" by Margaret Feinberg.
I didn't know how to respond to her...if I should be worried for her or not. The title kinda threw me off at first.
I was wondering if anyone has heard of this book??
As per 1828 edition of Webster's American Dictionary of the English Language
organical
ORGAN'ICAL, a. [l. organicus.]
1. Pertaining to an organ or to organs; consisting of organs or containing them; as the organic structure of the human body or of plants.
2. Produced by the organs; as organic pleasure.
3. Instrumental; acting as instruments of nature or art to a certain end; as organic arts.
Organic bodies, are such as possess organs, on the action of which depend their growth and perfection; as animals and plants.
I looked up the book and got this description from Feinberg's website:
"The Organic God
Natural. Pure. Essential.
In our ever-changing world, simplicity is a craving. What if we could simplify our lives starting with our faith? Imagine what it would look like to have an organic relationship with God, one that is stripped of all pollutants, additives, and other distractions that can cloud this ultimate relationship. The Organic God removes the unhealthy fillers and purifies our relationship with the God of the Scriptures."
So it would appear the idea is not that God is somehow "organic" as HeartSong has defined but rather in terms of organic agriculture -- that is, pure and untainted by man's devices.
Anyways, I personally wouldn't read this book or recommend it. And if I were to judge this book by its cover, I would say it seems similar to a Joel Osteen book aimed at the Christian bookstore market for women.
Perhaps it might help to encourage your sister-in-law to read Ecclesiastes. It is one of those awesome motivational and life-focusing books of the Bible. No, really, it is.

AMEN! I love this book! There is so much info in there about everyday life. If the KJV is difficult, find another translation....either way, it is a fascinating read. Let its truths sink into the deepest recesses of your brain where it will teach you. I promise you you will never regret it. It is so simple, basic which makes other self-help books look cheap, and inadequate.
