You are wrong in saying that calvinists do a "pitiful job when it comes to . . .responsibility[of man]." Just look to the Westminster catechism's first question: "the cheif end [responsibility] of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever." As a reformed Christian I agree with that statement. Man is responsible to God. Paul's call to the jailer was "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." There is a resposibility on our part in the order of salvation. Every reformed theologian would agree with that. But it is God that gives us rebirth, we cannot will to be born nor reborn. The Holy Spirit quickens us and we "confess with [our] mouth[s] that Jesus is Lord and believe in [our] heart[s] that God has raised Him from the dead . . ." Yet this confession is necessary ". . . you will be saved."
