The Dimming of Our Eyes
An endless list dims the eye
of the splendor that will be.
When John was there he fell as dead
when the Lord his eyes did see.
We'll see our God to whom we've prayed
and wondered all these years;
all will be in purist form,
there'll be no pain or tears.
The purest gold will form the streets
that the purest souls will walk;
we'll stroll beside the purest stream
while with other souls we'll talk.
We'll eat the fruit of the tree of life,
there'll be no tempter there;
the old is passed away for good,
the new is free of care.
Awesome thoughts to keep in mind
of heaven's pure comprise;
would help us as we walk this earth
to fight the dimming of our eyes.
'Come out My people', He bids to us
which suggests and does allude,
that even we, His chosen ones
are targets to delude.
Easy to think so true of some
and miss our own demise,
but to some degree we too are prey
to the dimming of our eyes.
