Begging You To Pray

A dear friend of mine is in the ICU under strange circumstances. Ferlin has a wife and 3 little children and loves the Lord. He is 31 years old and a healthy person.

Strangely enough the doctors think he had a massive stroke (friend heard him fall and found him struggling to get up). He was rushed to the ER (and was witnessing to the paramedics on the way there!) They had to do surgery to relieve swelling in his skull and some type of blood clot had to be dealt with. The left side of his body is not working. He has just begun to respond with the slightest of hand squeezes but is in very critical condition.

He is a pastor's son and one of a handful of pastors' boys who were raised together. These boys are Navajo and live on the reservation. The same night Ferlin collapsed but only minutes before, another one of the boys, JC, (in a different location) was assailed in bed by some unseen foe. His wife called JC's father in a panic and put the phone at JC's ear - the father prayed and the demonic attack ended.

As JC got up to get some coffee and try to calm down, the phone rang with the news that Ferlin was on his way to the ER.

Sounds suspect, especially since Ferlin has been on fire for the Lord lately.

Please pray for Ferlin Nez, his wife Danielle and their 3 children. Pray specifically against any witchcraft or demonic garbage which may have come against them.

Gratefully,
Brian

These boys are Navajo and live on the reservation.

Being part Cherokee myself (Eastern Band) I have a soft spot for my American Indian brethren... so you know I'll be in prayer.

Update: The doctors took Ferlin's breathing tube out this morning and are seeing how he does on his own. I'm planning to go visit in awhile. Thank you again for the prayers, I and his family are grateful.

Also, the reservations in this country are primed for revival and it is already beginning to arise in places. Pray for our native peoples!

Update 2: Ferlin "came to" late this morning! His brother was holding his hand reading to him and Ferlin woke up. At first he didn't know who his brother was but after some discussion (he was able to speak slowly) and, at the mentioning of a nickname, he began to cry and could remember.

He remembers his wife, children and parents. He also remembers collapsing and attempting to get up multiple times (before the ambulance came).

The nurses had him sitting up for about 1 hour today. He even moved his left shoulder and hand once or twice!

Please be praying for:

Total recovery of memory.

Total recovery of body control (left side of his body is still not working well.

Proper healing from cranial surgery.

No recurrance of strokes and seizures.

Pneumonia to go away (his lungs have some fluid.

Thank you for praying, the doctors are impressed by his recovery thusfar!

Update 3: I saw Ferlin today. He was propped up in a wheelchair for some therapy. The left side of his body is numb and unresponsive. He was pretty coherent and his memory is sharp. He seemed frustrated, sad and scared about his condition but was alert enough to crack some jokes. He told one of us, "Man, I look messed up." In response somone said, "that's okay." And then he said, "but you should have seen the other guy....all six of them." He was also requesting some unusual things like a hotdog from Circle K.

Thank you for your prayers, Ferlin continues to improve. His wife and 3 kids are relieved to see their Daddy awake and talking. Looks like recovery will be a long haul but he is a fighter and says "God has my back."

I probably won't post an update until next week but please pray as you feel led and also for:

Hope, strength and joy for Ferlin and family.

Protection/deliverance from any and all demonic attack.

Total recovery of body control (left side of his body is still not working well.

Proper healing from cranial surgery.

No recurrance of strokes and seizures.

Pneumonia to go away (his lungs have some fluid.

Praise God that my dear friend is improving! Thanks be to you praying saints and the mercy of God.

Update:
I saw Ferlin last night 11/15, he continues to improve and has been moved out of ICU to a physical therapy ward. Slowly but surely some sensation is returning to the left side of his body. He is still having trouble moving anything on that side of the body but I did notice him move his left arm as he slept! Swelling has gone down greatly and he is coherant/conversational.

Prayer Items:
- Proper functioning of the left side of his body. Even the left side of his throat has been paralyzed which makes it difficult to swallow properly.

- Hope, that Ferlin would not be discouraged.

- Successful surgery. The doctors have to replace the portion of his skull that they removed.

- Financial provision.

Blessings,
Brian

I will pray for him and those caring for him. I speak of the family that loves and cares for him AND for the caretakers and Doctors who attend to his physical needs.

Also, praying for a revival in the Nations.

Great news - Ferlin walked!!! During physical therapy on Saturday his left leg began to respond. He is now able to walk and can even lift the leg up from a seated position. Woohoo!

Sidenote: Speaking of praying for the Nations. There is a place in California called Klammoth. Over the summer, a friend of mine had a month long tent revival there. God's Spirit moved powerfully and many gave their lives to the Lord. Deliverance was occuring nightly. Now a Bible Study containing members from about 5 different churches has sprung out from the meeting (on the local's own accord). It's been running about 28 people consistently for something like 15 weeks!

An update, perhaps the final one:

I just visited Ferlin in the hospital today, he has been in the hospital for 1 month and 3 days. Guess what? He is being released tomorrow!

Arriving at the physical therapy gym, I found him walking under his own power with a cane and minimal assistance from his brother and the therapist. He was all smiles as we went outside and he cruised nearly a quarter mile around the hospital parking lot navigating stairs, gravel, grass and curbs.

His left leg is a bit lazy but, for the most part, functioning decently. His left arm is coming along slowly. He is sometimes able to raise it, extend it and perform other normal actions.

The road to full recovery may be long. But he is mobile, communicating well and a joy to be around.

Thank you for your prayers saints.

Lord willing, some final things to prayer for:

- Total recovery of functioning in the left side of his body.

- Safe replacement of the portion of skull which was removed during brain swelling.

- Total recovery of memory, it gets a bit foggy.

- Employment which he can handle, he may not be returning to working on high power lines.

- That he can run again and even shoot some baskets.

I'm ever grateful for your prayers and the recovery of a precious friend. The doctors told him that only 1 in 25,000 people live through a stroke of the magnitude he suffered.

Blessings,
Brian
