taken home early?

Can anyone (or everyone) explain for me the different views on this topic? I don't know what to call it but some people believe that God will physically discipline a christian even with death but their soul will be saved. What are the different views on this?

I should add that I'm already familiar with a few verses that can be used to back this up but I'm hoping for more background on the subject and any other views. Thanks.
