Ok, ok! Don't everyone go first! ;-) So my husband and I woke up and I was gonna make cereal for breakfast, but I got scared of the milk, cause a few days before, our fridge wasn't cold enough and the knob to make it colder doesn't have numbers on it. So in an effort to make it colder we accidentally turned it all the way down overnight. So instead of the eating rotten milk with my cereal I make eggs, bacon, and toast. I guess it worked out for the best. ha ha. We were late for church though, 10 minutes or so. The message was good. On the last chapter of 2 Peter. It was about scoffers in the end days. And how they are all around us today. Saying "Where is Jesus? He's never going to come back. There is no judgement. We can do whatever we want!". But Peter goes on to say, that it is by God's grace that He has not returned. He is giving people a chance to come to Him before his judgement. He also says that "God is not slack concerning His promises, as some count slackness." What He says, He will do! He will return! After church, we hung around and talked a little. Then we went to go pick up my husband's guitar for this guy who has had it for over 3 week, cause he was supposed to be fixing it. And talked to his roomate who was the one who was actually fixing it, but only for the last day. So he had it all this time and he wasn't even working on it. Just playing with it. Josh didn't like what he did, so all of a sudden this guy snapped and went crazy and started screaming at the top of his lungs for like 5 minutes staight, and his dad came in too, and started screaming and telling us to get out of the house and, how we aren't getting the guitar back until we pay him. So we payed him, just so we could get the guitar away from that guy. But the good thing is we didn't get in a fight and we are getting our money back. We'll actually take the guitar to a guitar store to get it repaired this time. Then we hung out at some friends house from church and had dinner. And went to Josh's softball game cause he plays on the church team. That was our day! Not that it was good enough to write down. But you started the thread. :-P
i got up early, about 6 a.m., still thinking about this Watchman Nee writing that the Spirit had led me to earlier in the week ... "Changed Into His Likeness"http://www.worldinvisible.com/library/nee/changedlikeness/chalikcont.htmi've not been able to get this writing out of my mind since, it's so important ... It was a real rainy day, all day, and i just spent it praying and talking to the Lord, repenting and studying, just worshiping and praising him at times, and then i began writing from the Nee writing ... https://www.sermonindex.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=2571&forum=33&1This is what i did from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. ... It's taken 20 years, but i'm changed ... i finally know what it is to be nothing, and i'm loving it ... i am nothing ... i can do nothing apart from Jehovah my Source ... Jesus my Provision ... and the Holy Spirit my Power ... Only of God, by God and thru God do i have any worth, and that only because He chose me ... Come unto me all you that are heavy laden and I will give you rest ... Thank you Master ...It's all about Him, His kingdom, and His righteousness, and nothing else matters, and for the first time in my Christian life i can truly say ... Nothing else matters to me ... Thank you Holy Spirit that You discipline those that You love ... Amen
Well, this Sunday was my first time back to church since being in the Ukraine on a mission trip. I was very excited to share about the time I spent with the street kids at their summer camp. I had worked all week on a power point and... just kind of figured out last minute what I'd share with the body. I ended up getting all emotional in front of hundreds of people, but a lot of times I think transparency encourages people. You know, I'm not super human, just because I did some missions work or whatever. I have feelings like everyone else. I just love those kids so much and think and pray about them everyday. It was really awesome because several people came up to me after service saying they were touched as well or that they wanted to be a part of supporting this ministry. I think ministry opportunities like this really unite the body.I go to the same church as "DelightedInU" does, so I heard the same message. I was excited about the missionary points the pastor pointed out during his sermon. Just how God's heart is that everyone would be saved. And just like "DelightedInU" pointed out, Jesus IS coming back, and just because He hasn't showed up for thousands of years doesn't mean that He's not keeping His promises. It just means that He's that much more patient for us to be saved. The pastor asked a good question - "If Jesus came back 20 years ago, how many of you would be in hell?" Ummm... I would be in hell. I've only been on this earth for almost 22 years! So that's what's touched me the most - God's patience. And since God has that much patience for me and others, I need to also have patience with the unsaved, hoping and praying that they will also give their lives to God.
Sunday! My favourite day of the week!We are always early for "church" on Sundays because I am a part of the band, and my husband meets with a few others to pray while we're practicing. So, I learned a few new songs (it's easy 'cause I sing harmony so it's not like I have to lead with the melody or anything). The message we had on Sunday was about the Person of the Holy Spirit and Prayer. The passages we looked at specifically were in Acts 1 and 2. Our Pastor talked about how we in the conservative camps have often quenched the Holy Spirit out of fear of the excesses we see in other camps. He preached on walking in the Spirit, worshiping in spirit and in Truth, and living prayerful lives. He preached about how our lives are powerless because we're prayerless, and we're prayerless because we're not living Spirit filled, Spirit controlled lives. That's a pretty quick synopsis, since I think he preached for at least 40 minutes. It was a good and challenging message. After "church" most of us went over to the house of one of the ladies for lunch and fellowship. Then we went home, read and dozed a bit, then went back to that same lady's house for supper and we watched a movie called "Flywheel" which was made by a church down in the states. It was pretty good. It was a great day!
