prayer request about marriage

B
bible1985 Nov 17, 2008

It seems that when i decided to marry my unbelieving wife over a year ago that the Lord has left me almost like saul. I have prayed for deliverance and healing and have fasted so much. I need your prayers for the Lord to either change my wifes heart to come to know him as saviour or change her heart to want to leave me so i can be set free from this bondage of mine. I know this sounds ridiculous but i have had no other answers after time in and time out praying for deliverance and healing and repenting of my sins and trying to be obedient to trying to place my full trust in jesus again. To full surrender to fasting on and off for almost a year now, to getting pastors and deliverance ministers to pray for me and every christian on the block. I have read through most of the Bible during all of this with no cleansing , no change. I have tried to cast out the demons myself and have gone to the doctors with no help at all. I have gone to the lord personally and left others out of it for a long time but still haven't been delivered. If my wife is the reason why then i pray the Lord will either save her or change her heart to want to leave me and go back to indiana, so the lord can save her and come back to me. I have done evil in his sight by living in sexual with her before we were married for 3 and a half years and then marrying her, i hope he can come back to me, but i worry that i am saul in this situation and he won't come back. I pray this in jesus name amen

Hi Friend,

What a painful situation, I will pray for you.

What about simply striving to love your wife as Christ loved the church (even when we were ungodly)? I'm sure you are doing this, but I get the impression you do not feel it is working?

I'm not sure what kind of feeling you are looking for, but I would encourage you to not think about feelings at all. The Bible never encourages us to examine our feelings. My humble suggestion is that you simply believe in the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, and try to humbly keep His commands.

I'm not sure what kind of cleansing you are referring to, because there is no other cleansing besides what happened on the cross. Rest in that.

Grace to you,
Taylor

Dear bible1985,

I will assure you the Lord has NOT left you. If He did, you wouldn't be desiring Him like you do.

I too married an unsaved man and I will tell you I was most miserable until I surrendered all and I think you are at that place. You can change the situation immediately and only the Lord can fix it.

I was previously divorced and asked the Lord to help it end. He did, and I am great friends with this man's family til this day and praying for their salvation.

I don't know enough about your situation but I was greatly tormented in many ways. I was delivered bit by bit and it was not an overnight thing.

I will pray mostly that you will feel great assurance of His acceptance of you as your are. I will pray and agree with you that He will begin to direct your life even though it feels utterly confusing right now. I ask that the Lord will break through somehow so you can see some hope brother. It will be worth it all.

God Protect and Keep You, KathleenP

Romans 8
Life Through the Spirit

1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.

Romans 2

No Longer Bound to the Law

1 Now, dear brothers and sisters—you who are familiar with the law—don’t you know that the law applies only while a person is living? 2 For example, when a woman marries, the law binds her to her husband as long as he is alive. But if he dies, the laws of marriage no longer apply to her. 3 So while her husband is alive, she would be committing adultery if she married another man. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law and does not commit adultery when she remarries.

4...So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God.....

5 When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death. 6 But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit.

Praying for you. We all make mistakes, but we must receive the promises given of forgiveness after sincere repentence.

Psalm 27

13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the LORD
In the land of the living.

14 Wait on the LORD;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the LORD!

I am praying for you and your wife!

Dear John,

If I might offer a bit of advice to you with regards to your situation with your wife, I believe it’s important to get things really settled in your mind as to what the Bible says on this subject. I believe unless adultery is a current issue, you should be staying with her, loving her, and continuing to pray for her and trying to win her to Christ.

I know it might be tempting to believe that she is the cause of all your present difficulties, but I don’t believe this is so. If you are one of Christ’s then your greatest enemy is actually not only Satan, but your own flesh as well. I can relate to you in ways. I have a physical problem which brings pain on a daily basis, and sometimes the constancy of the pain feels almost unbearable. What’s more, facing pain on a regular basis tends to cloud our vision of Christ. We as humans can be so influenced by our feelings, and sometimes this may make it difficult to recognize God’s hand in our lives. I think it’s also true what someone once said, that our trials either serve to drive us away from God, or towards him. And this is what I believe you must do with your trials, friend. Let them drive you towards Christ.

Hebrews 10:32 encourages us to, “…remember those earlier days, how after you were enlightened you endured a hard and painful struggle.” So how about for you ? You’ve said that you cannot now sense God’s presence. But was there a time when this was not the case ? Do you recall a time when the name of Christ appeared to be the sweetest name to you, and the assurance of His forgiveness made all other earthly comforts seem dim by comparison ? If there was, then I would urge you to draw on these memories, and to thank God for all that He has given to you in your life, through salvation, and through daily blessings.

A while back, I was facing a bout of strong discouragement over my physical condition. It seemed like the blackness of my mood would swallow me up. Then, I felt God’s inner prompting, “Praise me, despite how you’re feeling.” To the natural mind, this always seems like the most absurd thing to do. But I have to tell you that when I did it, in one instant, I went from as low as I have ever felt, generally, to a state where peace and contentment ruled over my thoughts. In that instant, the song, ‘Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord’, sprang up in my mind, and as I sang it, it expressed so well the change that God had suddenly worked in my ‘inner man’.

So I would encourage you to praise Him, for He is worthy of our praise. Also, please know that I and others will be praying for you. He doesn’t promise our lives will be easy- that’s for sure. but He does promise that if we abide in Him, we’ll be able to draw from the waters of His salvation (Isaiah 12:3)

In Jesus,
John

Amen and Amen!

I know it might be tempting to believe that she is the cause of all your present difficulties, but I don’t believe this is so.

After reading your post yesterday and thinking about it ever since, I am convinced this is the case. Brother, from your post, you sound like a very selfish person who is only thinking of himself. This is not Christ-like at all.

Scripture says that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.(Romans 5:8) In another place it says that husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it. (Eph. 5:25) Have you loved your wife this much?

Blessings,

ginnyrose

ginnyrose this has nothing to even do with me being a selfish person or even of me not looking to christ, this all has to do with me getting delivered from the demons in my life and since i have tried everything and seems to have done anything i am now praying if it is Gods will that he does something if that is the cause, it is better for her to leave me and my soul to be saved and possibly hers instead of us both going to hell. I think it is quite unselfish for me to even tell God to take the one i love more than anyone and the one i have put before him ever since i met her and now tell him if he wants to take her out of my life than to do it if that is the cause for all of this, over a year ago i chose her over following God so this is unselfish. Another thing is that the demonms in my life our not just mere health problems and have been the hardest thing in my life to go through, i respect everyones answers that our kind and truthful and care about me. It seems their is always somebody who has to make a comment like this, where is the grace that your living in showing in your words.

Are you saying your wife is your demons?

The bible (Eph 6) says,

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Please explain:

this all has to do with me getting delivered from the demons in my life

Greetings

I will pray for your wife and that she sees her need for Jesus and to repent of her sins.
As I read over your post I must tell you though that I can not support your request to pray that God would cause your wife to leave you. I do not believe this would be Biblical for me to do. I do not believe that God wants to bring about an end to your marriage. That is not His heart. I will continue to pray for you as Father leads me too.

God Bless

no i didn't say my wife is the demons in my life but i am saying that once i married her and that she is an unbeliever that i might have brought even more evil spirits into my life, i lived in sexual sin with her for over 3 years. i was not saying that i was praying that if that was the problem then for God to do that, i wasn't saying i wanted that but if that is what was hindering us and if that is what he wanted then to do whatever. I most definitely do not want her out of my life but if God wants me to do whatever i will do it to be delivered, that is my point i was making, because i don't know.

The demons, they just disappear as we hold on to the gospel of Christ, as we repent of our sins and put our trust in God, as we place ourselves under the wings of His grace and mercy.

Put in remembrance how God showed kindness to King david, his 'big sin', his wicked murder of Urriah, while committing adultery (or rape?) with Urriah's wife, which led to his confession in Psalms 51.

_Or of His mercy when Peter did an outright denial of the Lord Jesus Christ. _ Or His mercy with the apostle Paul's murderous actions against the early church.

And as we also are being confronted by God, can run to His seat of mercy. Just put your trust in the Lord and repent. Sometimes we feel that our hearts is now so hardened that we can not shed even a single drop of tear, then just be true before the the Lord in the current state of your heart and ask His grace, there's no need for a drama, just confess to the Lord 'as is' with all the sincerity that you have and Just ask Him, I repent Lord please help me.

Eze 18:21 But if the wicked turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

Eze 18:22 None of his transgressions that he hath committed shall be remembered against him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

Eze 18:23 Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? saith the Lord GOD: and not rather that he should return from his way, and live?

Regarding your wife,_just give her pure love and affection, showing kind consideration even in the most provoking or discouraging situations. God has appointed that marriage remain even between a believer and a non- believer.

1Co 7:24 Brethren, let each man, wherein he was called, therein abide with God.

1Co 7:12 But to the rest say I, not the Lord: If any brother hath an unbelieving wife, and she is content to dwell with him, let him not leave her.

1Co 7:16 For how knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O husband, whether thou shalt save thy wife?

The demons...don't mind them, just rest in God and go on with our journey, in our pilgrimage as Christians.

May God bless you and your wife.

bible1985,

I know is forum is helpful to you, but it seems you need more help.

Do you have a mature, Holy Spirit filled man in you life that can guide, mentor, & pray with you? Someone to be to you as Paul was to Timothy?

bible1985,

Brother, suppose you were to step back and read your original post objectively. All I see is "me","I" and you want your wife to leave you. Brother, there is something bad wrong here. Why did you chose to marry her you never told us, but you said you lived with her for three years? and now you are having second thoughts? Son, I sure wish I could speak to your wife....something does not sound right here.

I have met a young woman who has divorced a spouse after three weeks of marriage; others after a few months...sir, I have little sympathy for those who want out of marriage without giving it a chance...and working hard to make it work. You see, I have been married for 41 years and I promise you it takes WORK to make a marriage work. One thing marriage certainly does is it exposes all your faults and that is not a bad thing. [EDIT:] Now go work on correcting these faults. If you resist, or fight it, that is bad.

So, now try loving your wife as Christ loved the church and see what happens..

Blessings,
ginnyrose
