Media and Philosophy

My brother and I were at Barnes & Nobles a few weeks ago (Borders also has these) and we stumbled upon this curious section of books, such as: Batman and Philosophy, Simpsons and Philosophy, LotR and Philosophy, etc. The one that we read together was Seinfeld and Philosophy. It made for some very interesting discussions. Here is a description of this book:

So if you were every wondering about the satanic world views that are influencing culture: what they are and what do they say; check out these books. It was also of interest to notice how these different philosophies are influencing the Emergent Church movement. Just be sure to be firmly established in the word of God first, be certain of Whom and what you have believed; the Bible is our first authority in all philosophy and there is no sense in reading these books to protect ourselves from demonic doctrines only to be carried off by them.

It gets worse, brother.

I have seen churches that actually preach about the Gospel as found in many modern movies. In fact, I attended a Church once where the pastor sometimes quoted stories from films (like The Waterboy) in enhance his "Gospel" messages.

It is a bit sad, you know.
