My favourite Bible Study bible would be The Newberry Bible (AV/KJV with lots of add-ons) My favourite devotional bible would be my unmarked, plain text, AV/KJV Cambridge UP Turquoise 8vo refs, India paper. Here is what I'm looking for to help in my studies.1. Some good commentaries. A good representation of Reformed and Arminian.2. Greek and Hebrew studies. I'm looking for stuff that is good for a newbie in this field.3. Some good Bible dictionaries and encyclopedias.4. Why not add a Greek-English lexicon.Joseph Henry Thayer prepared one which holds a lot of interesting material even for a beginner.Zondervan Publishing House.With some persistency one will learn the Greek alphabet and then, just go for it...Blessings,Lars W

You're right Thayer was a Unitarian, but as long as you are aware of that and are prepared to compensate accordingly, his Lexicon is still a good tool

Larry Pierce's Online Bible is a great tool. I keep on mentioning that it is FREE and most of the modules are too. This will provide a wealth of information. Worth a look. Try www.onlinebible.net

I try to be careful in my selections of bible study materials. The ones I rely on are some of the old with a mix of the new (like Youngs, Strongs). Regarding commentaries I have works by Martin Luther, Calvin, Boice, Lloyd-Jones, Ravenwood. My study Bible is the Reformed Study Bible I also have reproduction of the Geneva study Bible which I enjoy.

It uses alpha-numeric coding beneath the Greek word to give full parsing of every word in the Greek NT. This can often be very helpful in clarifying KJV ambiguities. I don't use it often but when I need it it does the job beautifully. (the Online Bible does some parsing but is not exhaustive)It provides a much needed service to all those students of the New Testament who can't remember the marvels of Koine Greek morphology and syntax. Each word of the Greek New Testament is analyzed in terms of tense, number, person, gender, etc. A simple alpha-numeric code provides the key to parsing any word. Companion volumes by the same authors use this analyzed text to provide lexical and grammatical concordances of the entire Greek New Testament.Two things would have made it perfect; a Strongs Number link for every word (although I have this elsewhere) and a the Stephens Greek Text (rather than the Nestle/UBS/Aland which does not have my confidence) (amazon.com has some second hand copies)

There's a Bible Study tool (I guess that's what you call it) :oops: that's really great and so simple to do. It's called E-Sword. I don't know how to do a link, in fact, I barely know how to even turn on a computer, but this download was so simple, that even I could do it. And using it is so simple, that even I can do it! It comes with the KJV Bible (my favorite) but on the download site, there are other Bibles, as well as commentaries, dictionaries and a host of other wonderful things that you can download and it automatically goes into the E-Sword thing you downloaded. I haven't costed the E-sword software or its modules but this is the first time I have seen a bible program which has the Geneva bible as a module.Does anyone know if other bible programs have Geneva?I have created a pdf of Tyndale's 1526 version which I would be willing to email to anyone who would like a copy. I have wanted to do the same for Geneva but have never found a source for the naked text. Tyndale was the main source for Geneva and remains the main source for the KJV. I can second the recommendation for E-sword, it has been a great tool for my studies. It is offered free of charge and includes a number of bible modules, commentaries, and dictionaries/concordances, books, maps, STEP reader. It's very useful for organizing your own study notes and preparing messages. I use it often for taking and organizing my study notes when listening to audio sermons that I download from this site and others. I have created topic notes for each speaker with headings for each message I listen to, it's easy to go back and quickly review the sermons this way. There's a lot there for free! I double second for e-sword and support it as it is freely given. There is also a site over your way called spiritualworx.com It has got translations in different languages and it is for free as well.

in so far as computer tools, for me it is definitley olb and e-sword all the way. More so olb but that might be because i have been using it longer.I am extremly gratefull for my copy of the companion bible, i personaly think it is one of the best tools going. I don't see eye to eye with Bullinger on a few things, in particualr his blend of dispensationalism but it is still a fine tool. i also love his work on figures of speech in the bible which is most enlightening.In terms of bible translations I probably read the NKJV more than anything but also read a lot from; Rotherhams, Youngs the Concordant Version, Darby and weymouth.As someone once said though, "I have an Emphasised Bible, an Amplified Bible, an Emphatic Bible and an Expanded bible but the best one of all is the Exemplified Bible! the one that is lived out in reality.Don't forget that so many of the religious leaders of Jesus day had great acces to the scriptures in the original language, but yet when Christ walked by they could not see Him.His word to the pharises of His day holds true for many evangelicals of our day "Ye search the scriptures, for ye think that in them ye have life eternal, and they it is which bear witness concerning me"looking unto Him, Stuart

I have to an A++ to e-Sword. I have been using e-Sword over 2 years and it is a great tool. The best part is that its free. There is a forum called The Christian Lounge. A lot of discussion about e-Sword and many downloadable add-ons also. I highly recommend it. My favorite bible is the NKJV.Tim
