False prophets today.

Jeremiah 14:13-14

[color=003399]But, "Ah, Lord God!" I said, "Look, the prophets are telling them, 'You will not see the sword nor will you have famine, but I will give you lasting peace in this place.'"

Then the Lord said to me, "The prophets are prophesying falsehood in My name. I have neither sent them nor commanded them nor spoken to them; they are prophesying to you a false vision, divination, futility and the deception of their own minds."[/color]

Is this not what health and wealth teachers are saying? Telling those, 'You won't see the sword! You won't see famine, Christ came to give you life and abundance...not sickness and poverty!'

Unfortunately, yes; that's just what the so-called
prosperity teachers are claiming !!

Hey brother reformer,

It is good to hear from you.

I believe that God told Jeremiah to tell the people that they were to repent or judgment would be inevitable. He even described what kind of Judgment was coming to them.

The devil always knows how to get someone to claim to be a spokesman for God with a different message than what God has already said. The false prophet wants to be popular with the people and make a gain. He wants to make people feel good in their sins and how much God will prosper them because He wants them to make him prosperous.

The true prophet like Jeremiah will weep over the sins of the people and will honor God at the price of being unpopular. The true prophet is sent by God and for the glory of God.
