I have really enjoyed a lot of modern worship songs beginning with Graham Kendrick, and Bob Fitts, Don Moen and others.. so I have no specific "hatred" for them...
But some of the songs that are sung in many many churches today lack a direction or meaning in songs, at least that is my view...
Here goes one from 'My redeemer lives':
I am dancing on this mountain top
To see your kingdom come
From 'Shout to the Lord:
Mountains bow down and seas will roar
At the sound of your name
I sing for Joy at the works of your hands
Forever I'll love you forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have in you
The last line doesn't seem to synchronize with the rest.
Not trying to be judgmental... A poorly worded song can have an impact when it is well-known
