material for homeschooling

I am searching for some good material that can be used in a home setting with children. Books such as maybe activity books, drawing books ect.

I will not home school as in full time home, but i am starting take some time everyday to try build some foundation in my children and since i have little option in o send them to ceasars school i want to teach them truths in a way that can be interesting and edifying for them. And since i know several of you here have been homeschooling your children or was home schooled by heir parents. I would be grateful for any helps in pointing the direction.

Hello Christian, Do your children speak English? Is that the language you desire for materials? If not, I wouldn't be much help, but I know of a curriculum in English that has an anabaptist foundation. It is called "Rod and Staff". I was just thinking that the history may include other countries because of it's anabaptist roots. (I am assuming you ant more than American history, since you live in Norway)

Thanks for your help, i am not so much interested in history ,math and such subjects, more in the Christianity part :-) , maybe "sunday school" material is a better word? but things that i can use to teach children spiritual truths in a way that suits their age.

even if material is in english i may be able to use it, it depends on how and for whom, right now i am more interested in ideas and thoughts from others that i can build something for my house.

Since my children go o the government school and hey learn much good bu also much junk, i see it necessary that i take some time everyday with hem and each some spiritual things. But depending on child o child and family to family some things are more or less suitable. So i am looking around and see if i can find some good things i may be able o use in this.

I'm not sure about activity/drawing books but I have used some story books from Devern Fromke that have been a real blessing in our home and are great for a devotional time with kids of all ages. The "Hive of Busy Bees" stories are excellent for younger kids and the "Seeing God's Purpose" and "Seeing God's Wisdom" books are great for all ages and will stimulate some good discussions in the home. I know this "gift" is not listed in the Bible but in order to relay these precious stories of the Bible in an interesting verbal way to our children is truly a gift!

well i would like to, it grieves me sending my children to government school. I can see the effect it has had on our older children in being exposed to all kind of wickedness and "fitting" in with the other children.

The problems are many, first it is economical. We need two incomes at the moment, but knowing God can provide other ways of living in the future that might open the door for homeschooling then i would gladly walk through it.

another is if homeschooling should take place it would be me that would have to do the teaching part, and since my income is the larger majority and barley is enough there are problems there.

and thirdly, the laws and rules in this country is not as good as in America. If homeschooling shall take place there must be very good reason for doing so. One can not just homeschool your children because you "feel" you want to do so.

I live in norway now and there are a bit better opportunities here and it might be possible easier in the future. In sweden the head of education in the government said this when a christian community church refused send their children to government school

"if they want to teach their children these values they have disposal of them in their free time to teach them whatever they like"

So this is the attitude we who might want to homeschool is up against, its a system.

And thinking these christians had three children in their school its amazing they where broadcasted in nine aclock news as fanatics that brainwashed their children as rebells against society. I know them personally and they are just your regular christians.

But here in norway we have more options and easier resistance. But it is more practical problems. But if God gives a way i am glad.

But til then, i will try take time with the smaller children so they have a foundation of some things before starting government school and continue to take time with them every evening to try direct them onwards on the right path despite the system and its attempts to get our children into the great machine.

One thing you Americans can thank and praise God for is that you have this freedom to teach your children yourselfs, it is not something to take for granted brothers and sisters.

My hope for my children is that God is able to make them wholehearted Godlovers even if they went to a communist school or whatever.

From what I have seen, Abeka curriculum is first rate! I have seen curriculum from other Christian scholastic organizations, and it is very good. I like the format and pricing of ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) for homeschooling...but the curriculum is extremely substandard.

Anyway, I am interested in this too. My wife and I will likely homeschool our children (well, when we actually have children and they get old enough). My sister homeschools her kids...and uses Abeka.

I am interested in the thoughts of others!

I am very grateful that my wife & I can home school our children. It cost greatly to home school your children (less money, time, & sleep). But it is worth it.

My wife & I also labor among the youth in our church. There is a big difference between those that are home school and those who are not.

May I encourage you to pray & fast for your older children. And never give up on them. (see Luke 18:1)

Dear Christian and family, I will pray for God to give you the direction and wisdom that you are seeking. I remember when I was considering (more like yearning) to homeschool my daughter, I was torn in my heart so I prayed that if it truly was His will, that He would make it very clear to me, and that I would have other confirmations, and that He would remove the obstacles that were stopping me. I can say that God did answer me not too long after praying that. He also changed my husbands heart so that he did not forbid me any longer. I don't know how God will answer in your family's circumstances, but I know He is faithful to answer, and that He will give us the desires of our heart (as long as they line up with His will) if we delight ourselves in Him. That is very exciting isn't it? God bless you and may He do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think in answering you!
