Sexual Adds on SI?

I believe that some deal has been reached to display adds on the SI pages to support SI. I have been amazed several times to come to the SI page and see some very sexy adds in the banner. Are we paying too high a price for financial support. I was on SI this morning and left the computer and left the computer room and my wife came in behind me and saw an add of a very sensual girl who the add said lived in my area an wanted to meet me.

The site is a vehicle for revival and I along with others so greatly appreciate it yet with adds like this popping up, I cant help but to think that the site is now actually implicitly contending against revival. Those who are already struggling with some area of purity in their lives can be swayed by a simple image of a lady scantily dressed. THis should never happen hear.

Do you not get a banner under the sermon index banner. I do and the banner normally is advertising some product. Yet on a few occasions I have seen a few crazy one like I mentioned.

This only happens when I come to sermon index. This is why I would not think it is a problem with our computer.

Are adds displayed on SI at all. My thought was that SI had agreed to allow the banners to help with the finances.

We have 4 young children, the oldest of which is 11. We always check behind them to see whats going on. But even if something was picked up from a site, I have never known adware to inject adds into another site. Pop-ups yes, but not altering a page that is hosted on other sites.

If it is not a SI problem that makes me feel much better. We do have the latest anti-adware and virus software on our systems as well. Not sure then what might be the issue.??

I don't get that banner with IE or FireFox nor have I ever got any Sexual Adds on SI period, have you tried a different browser just to see if maybe you have an issue with your browser?

I have never seen any sensual ads on SI. The only ads I have are "google ads" which display various sermon links, etc.

I would have to second that it is not an issue with SI.

I, likewise, have never gotten any sexual or sensual adds on SI. I actually don't ever even recall getting the google ads - certainly never the sensual ones in question...

Wow! I must have missed this statement, you really believe that SI would use these type ads to support this site? Trust me I would beg, borrow or steal to support this site before I would ever let them stoop this low, this would "never" happen here, in Jesus name it would never happen here.

And yes I said I would steal if need be, I would just have to ask God to forgive me, and he would. :-)

I have never had any adds on SI. I have to agree with what some others have posted could be your CPU. In all truth you and your wife or your children do not even have to go to a bad site per say to get infected with adware or malware. Even sites like Disney can have stuff on them. Running a virus protection program alone is not enough. You should also run Spybot Search and destroy, Spyware blaster, Windows bit defender, and adaware. They are all free and easy to use. I also would stay away from IE and run firefox with adblock plus. Works great at keeping all ads off the screen, and even lets you choose photos on legit sites that may be to revealing or inappropriate to block. Anyway in this day and age its really easy to have your browser hijacked, and all kinds of bad stuff infect your machine.

After rereading your posts I see no mention of what Browser you are using, no any mention of and Ad-Aware, AV or Firewall type protection software you are using.

I am using Firefox 3.0.4. I also have a program called Spybot (a free software http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html )that protects your computer from many malicious things.

More than likely your computer is infected with spyware. It is easy to have this happen even from the most innocent looking of sites. Many times it can happen by typing the wrong address in the search window and going to a wrong address. Many times these bugs are at 'coupon and recipe sites.' It only takes a short visit to plant bugs in your hard drive. If you are not computer experienced you would never know it was happening. It sounds like you are using Internet Explorer. I suggest you download Spybot and let it clean your computer. Or format/f-disk your hard drive and reinstall everything, or have it done and start over.

Again, I have ZERO ads when clicking on any section of this website.

I dont believe that SI would knowingly support these kinds of adds. Yet I believe that SI may not know the breadth of the type of adds that google have. I dont think you can control what kind of adds Google displays. If you agree to showing Google adds, you are at the disposal of the adds. The adds I have seen have not been pornographic in nature, yet they are very suggestive. So I think that google sees them as being fareplay. Google may not see adds for meeting other people as offensive even if the image with the add is sensual.

Other are seeing google adds here. So that answers my question on whether or not adds are indeed displayed on the site.

Also keep in mind that out of all my time on SI I have only seen this happen mabye 3 or 4 times.

Even if a add to meet someone in your area is displayed only once, I would think it is not worth having as a part of the site.

If SI have allowed google adds, which it seems like it has, is there a way to regulate the type of adds that are shown on the site.

I dont wont to be on the site and have my son see an suggestive add of an invitation to meet a single in my state. I dont want to be on the lookout while on SI.

I too have never seen any ads at all on SI that are of the nature described. Nor any others at all. Just the little google lines with no pictures or anything.

The issue is with HIS computer... I have NEVER received any sexual ads on SI... it could be that when he is directed OFF SI website onto the YOUTUBE messages ... the ads might appear??? For sure, it is an issue with HIS computer.

I dont mind if someone is suggesting that I have done something wrong. Fact is that I have done wrong in the area of the internet. Yet my target is for absolute purity in my home. If these adds are a result of something that I have done, then may the Lord forgive me. After thinking about this, I feel as if I should also have used another heading title for this post. Please excuse my lasp of discretion here.
