Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!

sermonindex Dec 17, 2008

1.\t'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
\tand to take him at his word;
\tjust to rest upon his promise,
\tand to know, "Thus saith the Lord."
Refrain:
\tJesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
\tHow I've proved him o'er and o'er!
\tJesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
\tO for grace to trust him more!

2.\tO how sweet to trust in Jesus,
\tjust to trust his cleansing blood;
\tand in simple faith to plunge me
\tneath the healing, cleansing flood!
\t(Refrain)

3.\tYes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
\tjust from sin and self to cease;
\tjust from Jesus simply taking
\tlife and rest, and joy and peace.
\t(Refrain)

4.\tI'm so glad I learned to trust thee,
\tprecious Jesus, Savior, friend;
\tand I know that thou art with me,
\twilt be with me to the end.

This wonderful hymn of grace was written by a lady, Louisa Stead, who moved to the USA from England in 1871. It was written soon after she lost her husband, who died whilst saving a drowning boy. She was left to bring up her 4 year old daughter alone. They later moved to South Africa and she served out her life in service to Jesus on the mission field. Her daughter also became a missionary to Rhodesia.

Come what may... "tis so sweet to trust in Jesus."

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I've proved him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!

I'm so glad I learned to trust thee,
precious Jesus, Savior, friend;
and I know that thou art with me,
wilt be with me to the end

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I've proved him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!

2. O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
just to trust his cleansing blood;
and in simple faith to plunge me
neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Excellent song....

I remember hearing this as a kid growing up thinking how dumb these songs sound and now as I reflect on the heart of the verses and refrain, it is like water to a thirsty soul.

Thanks friend,
Phil
