Is asking for financial help on SI against SI regulations?

If things are not flowing well, it is advisable to stop and consult with the Lord - to make sure that what you are doing, or are about to do, is within His will.

I have found that when things become difficult, it is because I have stepped out of His will. When I stop, and pray, and ask Him to show me His will, He invariable does - and if I obey, things become easy again.

I can't imagine why it would be. The church as it exists is one of a communal body of believers with all things in common. When a brother or sister is in need, whether it be in any sense from heaven to earth, it is imperative to help them out.

People may think someone could make up something to somehow cheat people out. A person's reputation will be known by their previous posts quite reasonably.

If the church is to be the real church, it will help those in need, whether Christians or not. God has given us the responsibility to help others; through Jesus Christ the duty of charity has been imparted unto us. Let us not neglect such an important duty as a Christian.

Who would say to the man dying of want of water, "pray, and ask God for help" without giving them first water? Not a Christian, at least by Jesus' standards.

To extrapolate some more: The act of giving is done because of God's giving his own son. He sacrificed his own son, and we likewise are to sacrifice our selves (including possessions) (Luke 12:33). It is an act of worship unto God; if it is ever scorned, it is not in accord with God's historic dealings with man in the person of Jesus Christ.

Also important:

Matthew 25:41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

We should meditate upon this, and take heed to Jesus' warnings and what he is saying in this text. That person in need, is Jesus Christ, and to not give to that person in need, is to not give to Jesus Christ, who gave his all for us.

You might want to PM Greg (SermonIndex) or one of the moderators before you ask publicly. I know that this is the Body of Christ and that we should bear one another's burdens. However, since Greg is the authority of this website, you should always ask properly. I have a feeling that this question, at least until permission is granted, should be asked in private first.

A few weeks ago, a dear brother posted about some financial difficulties that he was facing and his attempt to sell some things to get out of the situation. That thread was locked. However, if you go to the authorities of this website, they could give you a clearer answer. You might try explaining to them the situation and they might offer godly counsel -- including where or how to obtain provision for your need.

I do sympathize with your plight. I will be praying for you, brother.

I may sound harsh and uncaring but allow me to ask you a couple of questions.

Have you really searched God in the first place before posting this? Did He ask you to post this request?

The point I am making is that I thouroughly believe that God will look after those called according to his purposes. I have exeperienced it by myself.

Also, do you regularily give to the needs of the saints?

May I also ask you to contact your local fellowship if you have one. They should be your first human point of approach. Is there anyone else around who knows you who can give you same help and counsel?

SI is part of the world wide body of Christ and serves believers everywhere, however it is not possible to exercise proper church government and judgement over the internet without knowing you in person.
We only know you by your posts.
