Dying 18 yr. old's message to Jr and Sr. High Students

I was watching Francis Chan's sermon from Dec. 7 and he had a clip of an 18 yr old boy that came and spoke to the jr and sr. high students at Cornerstone.

My daughter kindly put the video clip on Youtube. I really wanted a bit more because Francis goes on to talk a bit more about it after the boy's video clip. Maybe after she gets home from work, I can have her make a new one with more video to it :)

I agree that this young man sees things with eternity stamped on his eyeballs (to quote ravenhill- i believe) He is a very brave young man. I'm sure not many 18 yr olds who know they are dying would do this. Most- even Christians would want to be surrounded by their comforts in their last days.

Thank you MC for your encouraging reply. Anymore, I post on here with apprehension, not knowing if someone is going to pick everything apart. I do hope other's realize that all the 'constructive' critisicm that they give does cause some to question whether they want to say anything for fear of being analyzed and picked apart.

Hello Chanin,

Thank you for the video. What a blessing to see the Lord using this young man to bring forth a wake up call - oh, that the eyes of our youth would truly be opened unto the Lord.

Anymore, I post on here with apprehension, not knowing if someone is going to pick everything apart. I do hope other's realize that all the 'constructive' critisicm that they give does cause some to question whether they want to say anything for fear of being analyzed and picked apart.

The Lord has been shedding light upon this recently - for myself at least. One of the ways that the forums are useful (having been both the "picker" and "pickee" - and not knowing which it is until someone responds) is that they become a proving ground. Personally, I have a spirit of timidity that the Lord is working out of me. But I have realized that while He works it out, He does not want me to become "crass" - so He keeps working it back and forth, until I learn how to find His will in the matter. Also I have seen that He is tempering me by the responses of others - I think to give me a tough skin, and at the same time maintain a soft heart.

This is a relatively safe place to learn - at least in comparison to the rest of the world. Something that I have found to be essential, is to call upon Him before I say anything - and in that, knowing that what I have written is of Him, it is easier to take the blows.

Hopefully this will help you to be less fearful in coming forth with what He would have you to say.

Thank you HeartSong. I've been a member of SI for over 5 years. I used to post everyday back in the day :-) You're exactly right about the forums kind of being a proving ground. Much of my crassness, criticism and easily being offended was worked out here on the SI forums a few years ago- though there is always still more work to be done :-) I have been through everything on here- much too zealous, much too opinionated, much to sensative. These days- through many trials and seasons of life, I have kind of come to a middle ground and learned alot about patience and forebearance. Everyone has an opinion and everyone thinks they are right.

I thought many times that biblically I was right about something and would have done anything to stand my ground. But the Lord showed me many times, that not only was i not always right, but that just my attitude of thinking I was right, was WRONG.

Anyway, enjoy the forums and may the Lord grow you in grace.
