The Bible was written in tears and to tears it will yield its best treasures.God has nothing to say to the frivolous man.

THE SAVING POWER OF THE Word is reserved for those for whom it is intended. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him.

There is scarcely anything so dull and meaningless as Bible doctrine taught for its own sake. Truth divorced from life is not truth in its Biblical sense, but something else and something less.

The Bible always presents the truth and then makes the application: “Now, if this is true, you ought to do something about it!” That is the meaning of moral application of spiritual truth.

The Word of God well understood and rigorously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection.

THE CROSS OF CHRIST IS revolutionary, and if we are not ready to let it be revolutionary in us nor let it cost us anything or control us in any way, we are not going to like a church that takes the things of God seriously.People want the benefits of the cross but yet they do not want to bow to the control of the cross. They want to take all the cross can offer but they don’t want to be under the Lordship of Jesus.

The Bible... is more than a volume of hitherto unknown facts about God, man and the universe. It is a book of exhortation based upon those facts. By far the greater portion of the book is devoted to an urgent effort to persuade people to alter their ways and bring their lives into harmony with the will of God as set forth in its pages.

THEE GREAT NEED OF THE hour among persons spiritually hungry is twofold: First, to know the Scriptures, apart from which no saving truth will be vouchsafed by our Lord; the second, to be enlightened by the Spirit, apart from whom the Scriptures will not be understood.

THE DIFFICULTY WE MODERN Christians face is not misunderstanding the Bible, but persuading our untamed hearts to accept its plain instruction Our problem is to get the consent of our world-loving minds to make Jesus Lord in fact as well as in word.

Let us read the Bible as the Word of God and never apologize for finding Jesus Christ throughout its pages, for Jesus Christ is what the Bible is all about!

If you would follow on to know the Lord, come at once to the open Bible expecting it to speak to you. Do not come with the notion that it is a thing which you may push around at your convenience.

I cannot think of even one lonely passage in the New Testament which speaks of Christ’s revelation, manifestation, appearing or coming that is not directly linked with moral conduct, faith and spiritual holiness.
