CHINA: ATTACKS STEPPED UP

CHINA: ATTACKS STEPPED UPChinese authorities detained and interrogated well-known house church leader Samuel Lamb after worship services on June 13. Ten of his younger co-workers were also detained and interrogated. All were released the following day. This was the first time in 14 years that the authorities have taken repressive steps against Pastor Lamb, an indication of China’s stepped up attacks on ‘illegal’ religious activity.Pray that whenever Chinese Christians are arrested and interrogated, the Holy Spirit will move with love and power to confuse and convict the authorities. Pray the underground church in China will continue its explosive growth. Pray these faithful believers will inspire everyone to a deeper commitment to Christ. From the news flow at Intercessors Network

The wonderful thing about the Chinese Church is that they will continue to pray for their beloved leader until he is released in one way, shape, or form. They will not give up on him even if they must pray for years. I hope that when the day comes for the same to happen here in the US/Canada, that we will peservere in the same way they did. If I'm not mistaken, this pastor is on "The Cross: Jesus in China" DVD that has been reviewed on this site.

This must be the sixth or seventh time pastor Samuel Lamb from Guangdong is arrested by the Chinese authorities (he spent more than 25 years in labour camp). In an interview a couple of years ago, he indicated that he always had a wash bag ready for such an occasion. The church he pastors is a unique one. It is not registered with the government, but it openly worships. Part of the reason is the relative leniency in the Special Economic Regions (in this case, Guangzhou). Another reason is Samuel Lamb has an international profile after Billy Graham had publicly met him in his last visit. As such, any political pressure on pastor Lamb will often raise the eyebrow of the international community.I am not sure about the nature of this arrest. Perhaps it has to do with the recent release of DVD, "The Cross: Jesus in China".

I am not sure about the nature of this arrest. Perhaps it has to do with the recent release of DVD, "The Cross: Jesus in China".Yes let us pray for pastor Samuel Lamb and bring attention of this to friends, I wonder if featuring it on SermonIndex could have an impact? Are there places that we can email in the government etc or in persecution ministries to help bring awarness of this event?
