A sermon John MacArthur preached Sunday...its awesome!

sermonindex Feb 10, 2009

There was a conference at a local church where i live and John MacArthur came to preach, along with Bruce Ware. He closed the conference with this message Sunday night...it was probably one of the best sermons I have ever heard on the Lordship of Jesus Christ...it completely changed my view and caused me to really examine my walk.

I was greatful that I was able to go and actually get to meet him after service.

Loved it! Now I know why God gave laws regarding slavery - so people can understand how we are to relate to God.

Will have to listen to this again.

Thanks for posting this.

Praise the Lord...for me this message will stand out to me forever...what a joy to hear this message and to know that he is in the 40th year of ministry preaching the truth a verse at a time.

I hope that SI will pick this message up and possibly post it as the sermon of the month...if God wills it to be.

I have heard him speak on this issue a couple times. Does he do a word study of 'doulos' in this sermon?

TJ it was a great sermon my friend. He expounds on the word Doulos and really focused on what it means. Very, very good message and the topic is very important to true gospel preaching.

I heard him expound on ‘doulos’ in a sermon similar to this one a couple years ago. He mentioned The Bible: An American Translation by Edgar J. Goodspeed. I found it on ebay. It translates ‘doulos’ as slave every time it occurs. No bondsman, bondservant, or any other attempt to soften the term. It has slave every time. It changed the way I read the New Testament.

I hope everyone hears this teaching on being a slave of Christ.

WOW! This sermon really moved me! I am going to do a search of "doulos" on my pocket Bible program and find every instance of it, then look them up and write SLAVE over top of every instance the word is mistranslated. I even thought of getting the word "SLAVE" tattooed on me so I will always see it and never forget. I'll definitely be listening to this sermon again and spreading it around. Thank you.

It has moved me to consider, I hope forever, my being a slave to my Master.
