Hi there,

I want to take a look into the life of the apostle Paul and I am interested in writings about him, for example in writings of the early church. Is there any place I could gather information about this man?

Thanks for any help.

Daniel

You can pick up Adolf Schlatter's book: "The Theology of the Apostles." I saw from your profile you're from Germany, Schlatter was a German theologian who died in 1938. If he had been widely read instead of Barth and Bultman the twentieth century would have been much different. Pick up and read everything you can from Schlatter but as for the apostle Paul the book I mentioned will be a great help. Also the link to this class:

This is a free course that will help you out. You can download all the class lectures for free.

Try reading anything by Clement of Rome who was in personal contact with Paul and Peter.

This book, by David Wenham, destroys the idea that Paul founded Christianity and departed from the original faith, a charge often laid against the beloved apostle. False teachers hate Paul. If they can't conquer the man's teaching, they'll attack the man.
