“Beware of prayerless tears and beware of tearless prayers.”
This reminded of when my precious wife died in 2001 and I began to cry out to the Lord in earnest. For a number of months, all I could literally hear in the spirit was "Why don't you just curse God and die?" Even though I had long left Jesus some years before, something didn't seem quite right and I thought of Job and that's where I began reading the scriptures again. Fortunately, I didn't believe the demons or I would have been a dead man...
As I began to read the scriptures and seek Jesus more earnestly, he gave me this verse in Hosea 7:14 They do not cry out to me from their hearts but wail upon their beds. They gather together for grain and new wine but turn away from me.
The prayerless tears came because God didn't give me what I wanted, which was a life with my wife. The tears were tears of remorse, not tears of repentance. The Holy Spirit didn't condemn me but the conviction was so strong I wept for days and finally said Lord now I need to repent and he began walking through my life of sin and I began to repent.
I'm not saying this is you dear one but this is what the Holy Spirit revealed about my own heart. And oh, how the blood of Jesus has set me free and healed me of the damages of my sin and those around me. There is healing in the blood of Jesus!
I know that He wants us to seek Him for who He is (i.e. seek His face), rather than He can do for us (i.e. seek His hand). Praise God for that conviction that comes through the Holy Spirit.
