I need some good reading...

I was wondering if anybody could recommend a couple good books to read? I am having more time on my hands lately, and would really like some suggestions. What books have you been reading the last couple of months that have really stirred you and caused you to stop and think?

Theological, historical, devotional? I'm looking for stuff that has real meat on it.

Any books by Watchman Nee.

I'm reading The Spiritual Man at the minute. It's making me think deeply about my walk with God.

wont read these four volumes in one sitting, but i find myself challenged and encouraged every time i read this comment or thoughts upon scripture, very devotional and very deep and yet also very practical book. Much for the money i think.

I am currently reading "the life of Elijah" by A.W. Pink been moved greatly by it.
Another is "precious remedies against satans devices" by Thomas Brooks This is one I recommend everyone should have it is excellent and so relevent for today. Banner of truth prints them both not sure if pinks is still in print or not but brooks is.

You have a lot of suggestions at already, but in case you want more you can't go wrong reading Tozer for books that make you think real deep and open your eyes to essential truths about God.
I have just read Tozer's Persuit of God and am immediatly reading again from the beginning as there is so much to comperehend....

I'll have to look into True Discipleship. Sounds like it might be good. I've already read most of brother K.P.'s stuff.

I did manage to come across an interesting book today called "Worldly Saints: The Puritans as They Really Were." The title pretty much says it all. J.I. Packer wrote the forward, and I have personally found the little bit of it that I have read to be very good. Anybody here read it?

I started to mention J. I. Packer's book, 'A Passion for Faithfulness' but didn't. It's not a current read, but it is very good.

A good book that is one I loved is " THE END WHICH GOD CREATED THE WORLD " by Jonathan Edwards.

Here are two books I highly recommend. One is autobiographical: "Evidence Not Seen" by Darlene Deibler Rose and the other is "Under the Influence: How Christianity Transformed Civilization" by Alvin J. Schmidt.

Darlene's testimony of her imprisonment during WW2 is sobering: her faith and how she trusted God during those terrible times are so inspiring.

Schmidt's book is informative, written from a Lutheran perspective. His writing makes history interesting, not boring, bogged down with endless dates and details that bore a non-historian.
