When God was dealing with my heart. When He was drawing me to Himself. If you had said there was anything I in myself could have done to save myself I would had jumped at it. The fact is I tried many things to save myself by my own strength. To reform myself by myself, only to fall short in sin. I put my faith in the fact I was going to church, that I read my bible, that I would pray and I talked to christians.I was doing alot of the things a christian does. This was only an outward reform, on the inside I was the same old self. Being told that I must trust Christ I tried to do this by works also by working my heart into a state of believing, and then to exercise a saving faith in Christ in my own strenght. I tried the sinners prayer many times a day; I see now I was put my faith in my faith which is works. By this time I was at my ends. Then I read in John19:30 " IT IS FINISHED " it hit me He did all the work, this broke my heart and that old song NOTHING IN MY HANDS I BRING, SIMPLY TO THE CROSS I CLING. I was finished with me forever. In that state of helplessness in anything I could do myself. All I could do was say Jesus forgive me, He did and He did and I knew it. I'm forever His. It was in Christ alone, thats the only way it can be is in Christ alone. All my works did for me was add sin onto sin. Now my faith is in Christ alone each day of my life. God is good.
