Heed Wilkerson's warning

sermonindex Mar 11, 2009

Heed Wilkerson's warning

When I was a kid, I read about David Wilkerson who took to Gospel to the gangs of New York. I even saw the movie "The Cross and the Switchblade" that was made about him. Many know about that, but most don't know what happened in his church just eight years ago.

In the fall of 2001, Pastor David Wilkerson, of Times Square Church in New York City, was warned by God that a calamity was coming. For six weeks they felt an intense burden and enormous heaviness. A critical need for intercession was so profound that Pastor Wilkerson canceled everything on the church calendar – mission's conferences, youth events and every guest speaker.

For six weeks, there wasn't a sermon. Instead, there was intercession for our nation with weeping and repentance. They knew something was coming and that something was bad. And that something was soon. So they prayed. And prayed … and prayed.

Then Wilkerson felt God telling him something that seemed rather bizarre. He felt God telling him to make sandwiches – lots of sandwiches. What were they for? Who would eat them? That part wasn't clear, but his church did what they believed God was telling them anyway.

And on the 10th of September they stayed up all night making hundreds and hundreds of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. By morning they had about 2,000 sandwiches. At 8:46 a.m. the first plane hit the World Trade Center and Times Square Church was ready to feed and minister to rescue workers and victims of our nation's worst attack.

Making sandwiches all night is a strange thing to do. If someone told me to stay up all night making sandwiches, I'd probably tell them they were crazy. But if David Wilkerson says he's heard something from God today, I think we'd be crazy not to listen.

He now says he feels the same thing he felt leading up to the attack by radical Islam. In an "URGENT MESSAGE" dated March 7, 2009, Wilkerson said:

AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE – EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.
For 10 years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires – such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.

There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting – including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God's wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written:

… God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations. He is destroying the secular foundations.

The prophet Jeremiah pleaded with wicked Israel, "God is fashioning a calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh, turn back each of you from your evil way, and reform your ways and deeds. But they will say, It's hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart" (Jeremiah 18:11-12).

In Psalm 11:6, David warns, "Upon the wicked he will rain snares (coals of fire) … fire … burning wind … will be the portion of their cup." Why? David answered, "Because the Lord is righteous" (v. 7). This is a righteous judgment – just as in the judgments of Sodom and in Noah's generation.

WHAT SHALL THE RIGHTEOUS DO? WHAT ABOUT GOD'S PEOPLE?

First, I give you a practical word I received for my own direction. If possible lay in store a 30-day supply of non-perishable food, toiletries and other essentials. In major cities, grocery stores are emptied in an hour at the sign of an impending disaster.

… I will behold our Lord on his throne, with his eye of tender, loving kindness watching over every step I take – trusting that he will deliver his people even through floods, fires, calamities, tests, trials of all kinds.

Note: I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off. I have unburdened my soul to you. Do with the message as you choose.

Warren Buffett has said that our economy has "fallen off a cliff." With the election of the most pro-abortion president (and Congress) in history, there's no question that we deserve God's judgment.

Just yesterday, Barack Obama signed an executive order to use children for spare parts. So much for defending the "least of these," as he so often quoted during his campaign. Cannibalizing the weak to help the strong. And by the way, don't believe everything you hear in the news – Obama didn't say he was against cloning. He said he was against "reproductive" cloning. Killing a new life after cloning one is another matter entirely: the cowardice of Obama's "Brave New World."

The bottom line is that we are economically and morally bankrupt. And it's reported that Iran now has all they need to build nukes.

So, when the guy who made the 2,000 sandwiches on Sept. 10 warns us: "AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN," I think we would do well to heed it. And follow the words Wilkerson quotes from the prophet Jeremiah and "turn back each of you from your evil way, and reform your ways and deeds."

Mentions the failure of a nation in politics as a cause but not the church itself? I respect what is said about Wilkerson but the rest is just more of the same with the religious fingerpointing at secular government for the woes of the Church.

The issues presented in gov't and moral law are legitimate, but she stops right there just like everyone else who finds the gov't an easy target for a wayward church. I'll say that the laws haven't changed not for lack of church activism, but hard-core intercessory prayer. It seems we've been too busy making protest signs and sowing financial seeds to pray about anything. Where's the talk about greedy Gospel preaching and rampant immorality WITHIN THE CHURCH? Ted Haggard anyone? Even they preach against abortion. I've seen more fundraise-athons than holiness preaching the last decade. And they are the very ones who blame gov't for every calamity to hit the mainland. Another example of someone who doesn't understand that judgment starts with us.

I agree Brother.

They just reported on this on the News and said this money is just to keep the Gov afloat until Oct this year.

Omnibus or Ominious?

Quote:

"Morning Edition, March 11, 2009 · Congress has managed to avoid a government shutdown. The Senate Tuesday night sent the president a $410 billion spending bill to keep domestic agencies and the State Department running for the rest of the fiscal year. The measure is six months late and $30 billion over last year's budget."

As long as we are led by the LORD; and not by
our fears, HE will show us the way through
difficult days and trials to come !!

Greg,

I agree that we should be alert and prepared, but aren't we all to be on the look out? Isn't Christ's return going to come like a theif in the night?

I personally have no opinion either way regarding the warning. As I've mentioned, we should always be prepared for any event.

As an aside, a friend of mine always carries a back pack of essential items needed for any survival situation. I personally carry a pocket knife and zippo (I don't smoke) everywhere I go. You never know when you might need a fire for survival.

Just a thought.

This is a very sobering message. I'm interested in finding out more on the sandwich making in 2001. Where can I learn more.

rreighe,

You should read the initial post.

Carter Conlon's message "Run For Your Life",

and David Wilkerson's "The Towers Have Fallen But We Missed the Message"

These are two sermons preached shortly after 9/11 at Times Square Church that will include some information about what took place at that church before the terrorist attacks.

Thankyou Greg for bringing this matter to us, personally I am not on the mailing list (yet) for TSC and so it was through Sermonindex that it came to my attention.
There seems to be alot of differing opinions regarding this message that David Wilkerson has shared but the fundemental point that he has made is of coming judgement. I can't help but think that if this catastrophe comes and I had not heeded the warnings and prayed diligently about it that it would be absolutely criminal!

I don't beleive that we should get hysterical about this but I most certainly believe that this warning should get us on our knees immediatly in prayer.

How would people here feel about maybe agreeing upon a day very soon whereby we purpose to collectively pray and fast regarding this word from David Wilkerson?
Please do share your thoughts on this.

"Run for Your Life" is an excellent message about the false Gospels in America being a judgment upon the Church. It's one of the most impassioned messages I've heard, well worth the listen. It was the feature sermon on here about a year or so ago if I'm not mistaken.

I have been following Brother Wilkerson's ministry since the 70'S and I highly respect this man and give heed to the prophetic words that come through much time in prayer, seeking the face of God.

I found this information to be interesting. Here are some prophetic words that were given back in the 70'S and were in book "The Vision."

From the Book "The Vision" Authored by David Wilkerson copyright 1974

David Wilkerson, a Christian Minister of the Gospel was given a vision of things that would first happen before the return of Jesus Christ. This vision was given to him about 35 years ago. Today, we can see the result of his prophecy. Keep in mind, this was all written down 35 years ago.

1. God is going to bring a limited time of freedom to those who live in the Communist countries. A temporary truce between the east and the west will occur so the Gospel can be preached there. Russia, China, and Eastern Europe will be opened up to the Gospel.

2. There is coming a worldwide economic confusion, a recession that will affect nearly every wage earner around the world.

3. America will see some of it's most popular corporations go bankrupt.

4. There will be a flurry of near panic decisions made by the American government that will backfire.

5. The American auto industry will be hurt badly.

6. There is coming a backlash against the environmentalist movement. It will become popular to speak out against programs proposed by governement environmentalists.

8. Most of the world leaders will blame America for this coming economic recession.

9. Many people will be unable to pay off their credit card companies, and this will cause a near-chaos situation.

10. There will be a partial and almost a complete recovery from the coming recession, yet the world economy will be in a state of confusion until the day of the Antichrist. There will always be uncertainty about the economic conditions untill his arrival.

11. Soon, many ministers and priest will be exposed for the sexual sins they are now secretly indulging in. There are some very well known ministers who will soon be exposed. Wilkerson said, from God's throne room he has heard, that this sin must be purged.

12. The sin of Sodom will be coming. Soon, homosexuals will be coming out in mass numbers. And soon, the homosexual community will be seen on network talk shows promoting their lifestyle.

Yet another excellent post from 'AbideinHim.' Thank you for putting that together. We didn't read the book. I can clearly remember myself 35 years ago and am positive I did not/could not see this coming.

Every day finds my eyes lifted to Heaven, watching . . . Come quickly, Lord Jesus,

well yes. but i'm talking about everything in general. i mean this one is good and genuine as i have found him. but yet i was mearly talking about being carefull about everyone. sense we are in a time of mass confusion then we need to test everything. that is what i was just taking the extra mile to make sure he knows.

yes I trust the things that come out of Times Square church but that is because i am testing and listened to the sermons with caution at first. but now i trust them and i was just saying to him to do that with everybody.

wow i have noticed that i am not that clear with my messages.

----in the name we love to say alot; jesus Christ-
