Favorite Ravenhill Sermon

Good to hear from you Jesse. "Are We longing for Repentance " was the first sermon I ever heard from Ravenhill. And you know what they say..."A first impression is a lasting impression."

I agree with Greg, the judgment seat of Christ is his best.

There are several I really like, but one of the best is Judgement Seat Of ChristAlso his interview (long version) really touched my life-True revival-Jacob meeting God-Are we willing to drink his cup-Washed with fire-etc..Very good preaching

Leonard Ravenhill:John the Baptist and the Fire of GodA good lesson on what the presence of the Holy Spirit produces in a man’s life.A pregnant quote:We talk about the baptism of the Spirit - it’s really the baptism of Jesus. There’s nothing you can get this side of eternity that didn’t come through Jesus Christ. My dear old principal used to call the coming of the Holy Ghost upon us, "The coronation gift of Jesus." "His fan is in His hand. He will thoroughly purge His floor. But He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. And many other things did he…" I wonder what they were. I wish He’d left a list, don’t you? Here is a man with no financial backing.He has no program.He has the favor of nobody.He has the Roman army against him.He has the religious army of the Jews against him.He has the Pharisees against him.He has the Sadducees against him.He has no money (he doesn’t need it) andhe doesn’t have a miracle ministry -- It says very clearly: "John did no miracle" -- Nobody ran after him pleading: "Have mercy on my son he is a lunatic." Nobody cried, "Unclean, unclean, unclean" or "open my eyes," or "I’m deaf," or something. Nobody said that.He never unstopped deaf ears.He never opened blind eyes.He never cured a withered leg or withered arm.He didn’t raise a dead man - He raised a dead nation. SINGLE-HANDEDLY.

It is hard to say which one is my favorite. I like so much of them. But I do think my favorite is "Judgement seat of Christ."Although right now I really like the "Anaheim talk on Revival."Another one that I highly love is "Are you willing to drink His cup?"Also "Revival" when he preaches at Tozer's church. This one is really good. I don't think I have heard a bad sermon of his ever. Except the ones that Greg puts up that are horrible quality, but that's just because you can't hear anything. The "Long Interview..." is really good too, even though it is not a message.

I also really like "The Cost of Discipleship". He really lets loose at some parts. You get glimpses of the man's sincerity and heart.

I don't have a specific sermon, but have a bunch of quotes (although they may be paraphrases due to my aging memory [grin])-A man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument. Because he will say, "But brother I lived it."-Jesus told us to go and instead we sit in our churchs and say "Come".-When a house in on fire, you don't have to advertise it, everyone in the neighborhood will know it. If your church is on fire, likewise everyone in the area will know it.-I go to bible colleges and I see classes on church growth, fundraising, preaching techniques but not one class on praying.-If God doesn't judge America he will have to apologize to Sodom.EDIT:Forgot my favorite Ravenhill parable.A man gives him a book on body building and Leonard says you mean this book can change my life? The man says yes.A month later the man comes back and says what's wrong, you don't seem to be anymore fit.Leonard says I don't understand, I read this book everyday, I memorized sections of it, I read all the exercises.The man says, but did you do the exercises?Leonard says, you mean I'm supposed to do them??He related this to how most Christians treat the Bible.
