So, basically, if the youths become a volunteer in one of these organizations, they can't worhsip or go to church??? I'm confused about this. I guess I should try to keep up with current events better. Are these volunteers voluntary or are they chosen to volunteer? And what kind of volunteering is it? Like the Peace Corps? I'm sorry that I have so many questions, I just feel that this is important and I would like to know what is going on! Thanks!
In Christ,
Wendy

Greetings Deepthinker

This has to do with the bill that was recently passed concerning the volunteer movement that Obama wants. Here is a link to an article about the bill itself. The bill does not say that they can not go to church I believe it is saying that the volunteer work that will be required can not be apart of any church or faith based service. Another words you can not help out at church and meet the requirement. I believe what it is saying is that the government will determine what is acceptable volunteer service to meet the requirements or obligations. As of now the bill is written in such away that states this will be a volunteer program but they are seeking to make it mandatory for all citizens. This is my understanding at least.

I hope it is ok to post this link here, if not then I will gladly take it down.

God Bless

Edit: I just had my husband read over the bill and his take is that this is saying that anyone in the volunteer service can not use any funds or time, or resources to promote anything to do with Christianity or religion, another words while your volunteering for x amount of hours monthly you can not share with others or in any way promote your faith or christian beliefs. Your just there to work not try to promote your views. This is his take on this. Anyone else have any thoughts???

Dear MaryJane,

The Bill clearly says

SEC. 125. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
`(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.

I edited my original post, so it may be easier to understand.

If you follow the directions I posted you should be able to find the Bill.

Regards,
white stone

Greetings white_stone

I was just offering my thoughts on what I read and how I interpreted what it says. The writing in these bills can some times be confusing to say the least. Some times I find I need to read through them a few times just to understand all the legal jargon:-)

Anyway thanks for posting this. Its good to be aware of how quickly things are moving.

God bless
MJ

I concur with Mary_Jane, this prohibition pertains to what organizations are illegible to apply for volunteer aid.

My understanding is that volunteers will be sent to help out at various business, non-profits, etc. In order to enlist volunteer aid, such businesses or non-profit groups must not have a stated religious purpose.

run2win posted this on p9 of the Tea Party's thread, and as a non-American, I'm fascinated by what seems to the be a grwoing discrepancy between the rights you think you have, and the day-by-day fact of legislation which seems to fall short of the Bill.

'US Bill of Rights
Amendment 1
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Quote from our Pres.,”We can not continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

“People of all ages, stations, and skills will be asked to serve….I will set a gold for all American middle and high school students to perform 50 hours of service a year, and for all college students to perform 100 hours of service a year...”

These are [excerpts] from Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky “The disruption of the present organization is the first step towards community organization…..All change means disorganization of the old and organization of the new.” and Saul Alinsky, the Marxist”organizer” disciples mentored Obama.

Michelle Obama quotes Saul saying we will not stand for the world as it is and we have an obligation to fight for the world as it should be .This comes from the 2nd chapter of Rules for radicals.

You have to understand Marxism to under stand what is happening I would recommend reading the Rightwing extremist report by Home Land Security. I find the consistent association of Christian values with white supremacy extremely disturbing considering Obama spent 20 years at a so-called church pastured by Jeremiah Write who operates in black liberation theology. Jesus said judge a tree by its fruit.

Here is another Marxist quote “A really efficient state would be one in which the all powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced because they love their servitude. To make them love it is the task assigned …to ministries of propaganda, newspaper editors and schoolteachers.” [Brave New World by Aldous Huxley]

This is a quote from Berit Kjos article Training a Socialist Army of World servers. It states “There’s nothing wrong with the old voluntary, personal service to the poor and needy. For centuries, Christian missionaries have given their lives and comforts to serve God among the sick, hungry and dying people in distant parts of the world…..They demonstrated His love ,shared His lifesaving truths , and brought hope as well as help to the needy.

Obama’s new plan is quite different. Aimed at socialist change, it will raise “religious” boundaries, limit free speech, and band divisive truths. It must be tolerant of today’s amoral values and militantly intolerant toward traditional values. And-like the tactics outlined in Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals-it would use deception and “agitation” to create conflict, and the Hegelian/Marxist dialectic process to manipulate minds and establish the planed solidarity.

Matt.24:22-25 you can’t fool the Holy Ghost! Matt.25:1-13 be wise make sure you have oil in your jars 1 John 2:27 the anointing teaches you about all things!!!!!!!!

Hi dmoney,

The quotes you make are especially interesting to anyone who has not studied political writings. The ease with which an entire population settles in under political 'servitude' was addressed by a Frenchman in the same century as Luther was writing about it from a spiritual point of view.

The definitive translation of Etienne de la Boetie's acclaimed 'Discourse of Voluntary Servitude', was made by Harry Kurz in 1942, when these issues were at the top of some people's minds. It appears in more than one site online. I read it some years ago in association literature on the Reformation. The whole matter of who the individual should obey, and from whence comes the authority of any man, was a hot topic in those days, (about a century before the political writings which have shaped current democracies).

But Tyndale (also 16th century) puts a different spin on the Christian response to the issue of bearing up under dictatorship, declaring in the introduction to his Old Testament, that as things are described in the Bible, they always will be; God has revealed His mind fully through His written word; that if 'we' find ourselves being ruled by tyrrants whose cruelties lead to the death of some saints, then with patient endurance we must suffer, nay, even die, still waiting for God's judgement against them in eternity.

What I notice most about clause [7] above, is that it doesn't prohibit the named activities to citizens currently. Nor, perhaps, to teenagers who join the Brigade. But for sure it will interfere with the deeper commitment to God's work of mature men and women. Finally, it might force a person to choose whether they are known as a citizen of the US, or a citizen of heaven, for the two would become mutually exclusive as the years go by.

Perhaps "free" America is turning into a "socialist" China? Well then, this might work together for good, seeing the great revival that has swept China the last 50 years. As the times get worse, may the sons of light shine brighter!

It's a trap for Christians to get caught up in politics. Our business is prayer and preaching. We can do more good by our prayers than in getting consumed with every new law and agenda and writing to Congress and holding political banners. We know the enemy is at work, so let us not sleep, but be at work as well, working to win souls for the Kingdom. He comes quickly.

What a trap it is to tempt Christians to fight with their hands. You live by the sword, you die by the sword, and you perish in Hell for being a murderer. Our weapons are not carnal, but spiritual, mighty through God. Let us trust in the power of the Holy Spirit in these final hours, and not in the machinery and craftiness of men. Let us not take vengeance into our own hands, for vengeance belongs to the Lord. Satan will continue to snare many -so be one of the few who are blessed by God as peacemakers. And if you're storing up guns in your closet to try to fight your way to safety in the times ahead, God Himself will rebuke you. Don't trust in chariots, don't go to Egypt for help, but trust solely in the Lord.

Thanks for the comments. It is solid spiritual instruction and I hope the rest of the church in America is as ready as the last to post seam to be. The preaching that I have heard in most churches gives me an over whelming since that they are not ready!

Ezekiel 33:6
\t
6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood

Corinthians 14:8

"For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?"

You are very right our weapons are not carnal, but we must still be ready for battle. The thing is most in Americas don’t seem to know there is one. Chinese saints know, maybe it will be good for us after all. Our apostil to Indonesia told us to night he had a dream that countries were submitting their countries to the leadership of the antichrist. We have never heard him say any thing like that before. He is probably the most anointed man I know. I pray God’s grace would be ever increasing on his children!

as ready as the last to post seam to be
It is indeed relative. I'm more ready than I used to be, and that is in part due to the ministry of this site, which brings together brethern of various callings and maturity. For many years I prayed (honestly) that I would not be called upon to be tortured for Christ. Only latterly do I understand that He gives grace for the day. I used to think I had to have it all sorted long before the event. Now I really appreciate Jesus' word 'Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.'

Our apostil to Indonesia told us to night he had a dream that countries were submitting their countries to the leadership of the antichrist.
Your apostle's dream confirms one aspect of David Wilkerson's Vision (described in his book The Vision).

Additionally, there is a Finnish brother with a ministry to the saints, trying to warn of false doctrine. His English is improving all the time, but even some years ago when he was more of a novice, the love of God shone through his teaching papers. I suggest you google him - PetriFB - to see that a similar message is coming from another part of the globe.
